hi all,
during d last outing, some of d guys asked me abt balloon sculpture dvds....i would recommend getting joe lefler's dvds....each dvds cost ard us$10, n it's defintely worth d money.....it's not difficult at all......many cute figures are taught....it's just tat i'm plain lazy so i only do dog, swan n daffy duck hat......hahaha.....www.hocus-pocus.com has d 3 dvds, but i just couldn't copy n paste d link.....dun know y.....for balloons, u can get from penguin ,they r d cheapest........as for pumps, get it from magic supreme....get those 2-way pumps...local magic shops also sells balloons, but d prices r so expensive tat i wonder if they are selling bombs or balloons......btw vol.2 have a nice teddy bear figure......a pink & a blue teddy bear kssing together with a love shape surrounding them......so u know wat to get for this valentine's day ^_^

as for balloon pumps, yes, get the double action one. the best hand pump on the market should be this

.
this one sux:

its only one way and not ergonomically designed.
this

looks nice but is smaller and works better for 160Q balloons.
this

is the more popular kind (i have one). but would get the first one upon opportunity as i found out only a few months ago that it is better.
(sorry i dun noe how to resize the pics)

These are all Qulatex pumps. The first one is good but not the best. I think the best are from T Myers. Orange and green color. Not cheap though.
As for the dvds, these are cheap and good but not recomended for the advance twisters.

yea, i think books will be better for basics and some for advance.

Oh yeah, the first pump works very nicely (like Yujie said, it's available at Magic Supreme, just ask the friendly boss - Steve!) ...much better than the one that I have (the very last one) which I bought from a neighbourhood toy shop and came with a few free balloons and a 2 side print instructions for basic animal sculptures ^_^
That DVD yujie has is very good... the techniques taught and all are easy to comprehend and quite enjoyable. I just wished he didn't dress up as a clown when teaching... but hey, that's me and my phobia for clowns and all... Still, it's a good DVD for people serious about learning balloon sculpturing!
Thanks for the review Yujie... :) and Gordie, for taking time to include pictures of the various pumps to inform the rest. Nice job!

I own all the above pumps.
Actually, I find the red pump to be very good. Though its not a 2 way pump, the bottom of the pump has a compartment to store balloons. This is a very sturdy pump. I wouldn't use this for shows, lines etc. But I'll use it as a back up pump.
When doing shows, always have a back up pump. Mine (purple pump, last in the above pics) has failed me once.

i currently also own the purple kind design, but will get a better 1 hopefully soon. it cracked (big one), but fortunately i could super glue it back.
