Title: Magic With Mahjong Tiles

BlueRabbit - January 24, 2005 05:01 AM (GMT)
I'm wondering, we have magic with poker cards, we have magic with dominos, we have magic with dices, but do we have magic with mahjong tiles?

Haven't come across that but maybe some Hong Kong magician would have thought of a way to do it?

Mahjong tiles aren't as pliable as cards, and they are bigger and thicker than coins. They are rectangular and as small objects, are kind of heavy. I guess you can perform a couple of miracles with palming techniques on a mahjong table. Well actually, it's meant for switching and cheating at the game, not really for magic. I remembered seeing something like that somewhere.

Funny you should have asked this question... An acquaintance, upon learning that I';m into magic, recently gave me a miniature mahjong tile and asked me to transform it into a "hong zhong."

Here's what you do. Have a double-b***er on top, followed by a blank-b***ed card, blank side facing up. Have a card selected from a normal deck, while keeping a few mahjong tiles underneath the deck. Have the card replaced, and control it to the bottom. Then, excecute a DL to show that the card has indeed, "risen to the top". Upon dissatisfied boos from the audience, comment on how the card has "bad karma", and lift it up so that the face is towards the audience. Bring it down, smacking it onto the deck, revealing the blank side AND releasing the mahjong tiles.

As soon as they react, c** the bottom card and place it in articles of clothing. I meant pockets.

But anyway, it's quite a fresh idea of Mahjong magic.

can do gambling routines with mahjongs. Just like how we have weapons of a card shark to teach us gambling moves with cards, im sure some hong kong dude could have produced a DVD teaching people how to cheat in mahjong.

The closest thing i've come to magic with mahjong tiles is a routine that uses dominoes called the Chinese Connection by our Uncle Bob himself. So check it out!

I once came across this lil stall at compass point , selling magic stuff. But all look UBER cheapo. But this stall was different from all those cheapo stalls, selling tricks for $10 that were made in china, this stall actually had dvds, and one of it was actually a dvd on mahjong magic. Pity i didn't have enough dough on me to get it. Sighz...

The recent few episodes of zhong yi da ge da features Guo An Di (hongkie magician if i am not wrong) peforming mahjong tricks. At the end of his peformance, he also revealed how they were done but they are more like "cheating" tutorial rather than Magic. since it is shown on Da mo jing, i guess they count as magic too.

There is this dvd on gambling cheating by Andy Guo too. It reveals some of the tricks used by casinos and illegal gambling dens. Perhaps if you are interested in this kind of stuff, can check it out.

As for mahjong, I watched a Hong Kong gambling movie recently and in that movie, the players p**ked at multiple tiles at one time using p*****g and choose their preferred tile from there.
