Aloy - January 31, 2005 05:18 PM (GMT)

Aloy - January 31, 2005 05:30 PM (GMT)
LOL...i mean the QUALITY of the secret is like dream vanish

Ning - February 1, 2005 04:37 AM (GMT)
Oh boy... check out magic cafe's review on it...

http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewtop...rum=109&start=0

Apparently most say the ending is 'weak'... anyone who's purchased it here, want to comment? :P

GordonLi - February 1, 2005 07:39 AM (GMT)
im sceptical about it...

zinally - February 1, 2005 09:16 AM (GMT)
We have to be open minded in stevie product. Actually he is a great marketeers & inventor that's why he can earn $3mil. from David Copperfield for his illussion trick. For me, I like to wait & see for the review then I comment. Anyway his levitation effect also quite awesome..

[Ling] - February 1, 2005 12:52 PM (GMT)
Oh this. Saw it long time ago...

Fearson's stuff are good. Just that we need to be careful as those fishy marketers will put false names and market them as new effects and earn $$$. So, just be on your guard. B)

exohordon - February 2, 2005 03:33 PM (GMT)
Fun stuff. Not easy though.

Ning - February 3, 2005 02:21 AM (GMT)
 Huron - tell us what you think of it in detail!!!!

magi81 - February 3, 2005 06:08 AM (GMT)
got it.
not an expensive price for the effect.
interesting idea, if you ask me.

i wouldn't say it's overpriced, cuz the effects are really great....
requires a lot of practice though. :)

like it said, this trick can be as tough as perfecting a watch steal...

Is it really practical as something your can pull off with 80% success rate? or just an interesting idea which you are not likely to perform most of the time.

Can you make a video of yourself doing the effect?

BuaYa - February 3, 2005 11:03 AM (GMT)
It sounds possible. But practical... Naw.

BuaYa - February 3, 2005 11:11 AM (GMT)
I KNEW IT! You have to get the person to CLOSE HIS EYES!

Magic cafe has people who said its good. But you can screw it. Singaporeans won't buy this shit!

Aloy - February 3, 2005 11:52 AM (GMT)
LOL!! Get the spec to close their eyes and you run away? that's the "vanishing"?

Sounds more like hide and seek

BuaYa - February 3, 2005 12:09 PM (GMT)
Huron has made a review of the effect on Magic Cafe. 3rd or 4th page into the discussion i think...

Goodbye vanish indeed.

Huron - February 3, 2005 06:11 PM (GMT)
Yes I made a review on the cafe, but one thing I did wrong, I haven't tried it out. I was just too absolutely disgusted with the effect. But that's my fault for not trying this out because sometimes the stuff that seems just too stupid, works like a freaking charm, and come to think of it, I'm a fan of such bold moves.
But of course this isn't bold, it's just stupid. :P
Nahz, I'll try it out and give another review.

Huron

magi81 - February 4, 2005 05:48 AM (GMT)
1) i have no video
2) i believe, ya, most singaporean won't fall for this, tried it on my gf yest, after say like 30mins of practising? and her comments, is "so bo liao"
3) cant make a video, this is only a trick designed to trick one person
4) consider the price, and the price of an instant dl from penguin and this is HIS last trick, i feel it's not that overpriced.
5) morp, ya, it's not running away, if it so, then, i would get terribly disgusted.
6) ya, but i could admit, this make me get a little disgusted at the entire idea of how or performing it, BUT, i have never heard nor of this "idea" before, so i guess i spent like 10 dollars for a new "idea"? so i guess it's stil alright
7) but for experienced magis, i know they might feel it's a bit overpriced, due to the "weak" effect. the effect is not as strong as the advertising.

BuaYa - February 4, 2005 01:05 PM (GMT)
I believe I know how its done, merely ny reading the effects, knowing the one-on-one limitation, and getting confirmed that my suspicions of forcing the audience to close their eyes ways true...

The truth is, you should respect your audience, they are not dumb. I believe this illusion is worked around 2 of our 4 other senses other than sight?

Aloy - February 4, 2005 01:17 PM (GMT)
I figured how it's done reading the ACCURATE description of the effect too.
I tried it on my brother and we both had a good laugh about how silly it is, right from the moment i removed my fingers.

The Monkey Vanish is getting some pretty raving reviews thou...

zinally - February 4, 2005 01:37 PM (GMT)
This is a true story.. Couple years back I create an illussion that until now if my collegue see me they will rememember that day. It happen at Changi Airport Surveilance centre where we work 24 hours round the clock. We need ppl to mend the area & If one to go to any break you must get your partner consent. The Surveilance Centre must have personnel mend at any time. That day I'm so bored so I call all the personnel to go to the S.C. thru intercom and announce that I'll will do the best illussion that only can be seen once in their lifetime. The illussion is to float a man lying on the table to rise to above 3 feet. No String No nothing just floating...So there are about 10 personnel & I got 1 volunteer for this illussion. R.B. is his name (Incase he read this post) was very excited & really want to feel the floating sensation. I told him the trick is quite delicate cos it using hynotism & mental strength. So I ask him to lay on the table & I whisper softly to him to close his eye, remain calm..& Relax..Feel free..concentrate on the body to become lighter & lighter. After that start to count 100 to one slowly & the floating can begin. He really did what I ask for. On that instant I slowly signal to everybody to slowly tip toed out from the S.C. Room and proceed to the canteen. We have the longest break in the canteen & the poor fellow have to mend the S.C. alone after he realised everybody gone! :P :P So I just hope the $6.95cent trick is not like this...right guy.

BuaYa - February 5, 2005 06:51 AM (GMT)
Ha ha ha. Poor guy.

exohordon - February 5, 2005 07:53 AM (GMT)
Monkey Vanish is very workable if u find the time to work it out.

Jessiah - February 8, 2005 06:22 AM (GMT)
yall probably already know the basics of this trick. Its not rocket science, and its not some new technology or physics... but there was some discussion on the magic cafe about other things you could add into it. I have a sweet idea with actually morphing into someone else... crazy!!!!

But I also heard that the monkey vanish plans/idea is worth the price, and to make it for a live stage trick is a great idea! i may buy it for kiks...

zinally - February 9, 2005 09:20 AM (GMT)
Actually this trick is good for valentine day. Tell your girlfriend that u want to perform the greatest illussion that is to vanish infront of her. U do the monkey vanish..she realised u dissapear infront of her, then she turn her back and still u r not there then again u appear with a bouquet of roses. :P

zinally - February 14, 2005 04:27 AM (GMT)
E-mail from steve fearson

>> Within hours after releasing the effect I had already received an email from someone who came up with an absolutely fantastic variation on the routine.. a variation that allows you to reappear 100 yards away or more virtually instantly! I plan to share the idea on my blog. I won't be giving away the method of the Vanish there, but you can still get it for the $6.95 price if you visit the website right now:

http://downloadmagic.com/vanish/

>> As it turns out, this trick is generating a lot of controversy online. The folks on themagiccafe.com may not all have the nicest things to say about me, but I expect you'll find it to be amusing reading.

http://vanish.notlong.com

You really have to read that whole thread. It gets pretty crazy. Maybe it will help you decide whether the trick is for you or not. Maybe you can figure it out from reading the posts. Then again.. for $6.95 maybe it's easier to just buy it so you can decide for yourself.

At just $6.95 the Goodbye Vanish really is a "Good Buy".

And if you don't agree, I'll give you your money back. It's that simple.

All the best!

Steve Fearson

you dont ACTUALLY have to spell it out for everyone. If people in the forum have half a brain (?) then couldnt they have done ok without your comment. Do you try to give away every secret you can? Dont take this the wrong way. I just think you could do without all that, and also Steve Fearson deserves alot more respect than we are all giving him. Its only $7... its the same thing as buying a harry potter book and enjoying the story. Even if you never perform the "goodbye vanish" then the manual could still be a good/funny read! Also, I hear it includes a stage trick that is taught how to build... dont hate, ya know?

havent you guys seen the Sawing in Half illusion he sold to David Copperfield. Its incredible. One of the best illusions ever! If it were tweeked alittle, it could be sold as a walk around close-up effect. That would be killer! But David owns it now... so you have to make one for yourself. I have! peace -Jesse

See....you are assuming B)

When i posted that, i had no idea how the effect was achieved. Me saying asking them to close their eyes and you running away was a jest/joke thing.
But YOU gave it away ;)
Anyway, RUNNING AWAY WHILE their eyes is close is NOT the secret. Or maybe you don't know? ;)

I dun think price is any justification for how good or bad something is. If i sell you something really cheaply, but it's completely useless, it's still a waste of money isn't it? However little it is.

HOWEVER, i am NOT saying that the goodbye vanish is a bad buy. Coz i heard some good things said abt the monkey vanish. Noticed that i haven't said anything negative about it?
Again...you are assuming B)

Hiya Mr Cigapen! ^_^

I'm sure Morphine didn't mean to make any exposures like you said really... If you truly know him, Morphine's certainly not one of those 'magicians' who teaches silly tricks for a fee. He's a professional who truly honors the the magician's code.

$7, or the cost of the product, is not the issue here... it's basically the intergrity of this effect. You cannot change what people think of you or your product. Your work speaks for themsleves. That's maybe why some magicians here, have the same sentiments as those over at The Magic Cafe about this particular offering from Steve Fearson (yes, loved his Sawing in Half illusion to bits!).

But we're not talking about that particlar stage illusion that's been sold to Copperfield now, we're talking about this vanish effect (URL as quoted, from the title) and as long as there's no flaming, everyone's entilted to their freedom of speech ;)

Peace!

GordonLi - February 16, 2005 12:35 PM (GMT)
okok, cool guys...

i dont think any secret was actually given away.

but i think maybe we all have to be careful not to make it sound like we are explaining secret.

i can already imagine a situation where a member who dont know the secret saying exactly the same thing and based on others reaction, either confirming his theory or leading him on to his next theory.

lets us all try to maintain the exclusivity of magic shall we?
