Title: Wow
VictorNg - January 13, 2009 02:33 PM (GMT)
This is a very nice effect and it seems like impossible that no one open a thread of this. I searched up till 2x pages to look for this but i could not. Or maybe i have missed it? Anyway, anyone know that this is made in where? Which country? Cause i'm searching in one forum and someone says it it is made in China.

Not sure if you are talking about Masuda - Wow.
The Basic effect
A spectator freely selects a card, signs his name on the face and returns it to the deck.
An indifferent card is slid into a paper-thin clear plastic sleeve just large enough to hold the card.
While the sleeve is held between thumb and forefinger, and with no hand movement of any kind, the indifferent card slowly and visibly morphs into the signed selected card!
The spectator can remove his card. There is nothing else in the sleeve! It looks like real magic!
Its japanese by the way.

Yea, it's by Mascuda. What I want to know is that where is the gimmick made. Cause someone in another forum stated it's made in China, so want to double confirm it. As what I know, this is by Japanese magician and it's kinda weird that it's made in China. haha...

If it's from China, it's pirated. I know of people selling pirated Wows. Not good quality at all, besides the singular fact of it being absolutely unethical. If it doesn't come with the Masuda slip of paper inside, it's not original and it definitely doesn't look and feel anywhere like the original. Buy the original if you want to get the effect. Masuda's a brilliant thinker and we ought to support the original creators!!

Oh, luckily i ask first. The price of the pirated WoW(should be) is not cheap either. Thanks for the information.

be careful, i own this trick, if you buy fake pirate china version, the chances of your performance to fail is extremely high, with the fake one, you will see the "previous" fade mark remains after you transform to another picture of the card, thus the audience will pick it out and know the plastic case is the gimmick.
No matter what, with the fake one, under some condition of light and angle, you will failed easily, plus, the "smooth" of control is bad with "pirate" one.
In conclusion, you must get original one in order to perform this trick perfectly.
By the way, there's WOW ver 3.0 now, but super expansive. (wild card joker, i like this one)
i suggest you get ver 2, which is WOW blank, this way you can be a little different instead of "6 of hearts" that everyone has.

Well said. My sentiments for the Ver3.0 too. I like it much better you get more flexibility and you never have to worry about same card when some few people who have seen it watch the performance again.

the thing i like WOW blank or WOW 3.0 better is because for those people who own the fake/first edition, when they see your performance, they will say "hey i know this trick", but then u can say " well, it's difference, i believe yours cannot print blank card to your signed card !!!"
for 3.0 wild joker, i think the impact is not as big as blank.
cos before i knew there's WOW blank, when i saw Lu Chen's performance on TV, i was thinking....how can he do that??? he use blank card instead of 6heart....how can he do that?? he used some sort of super fast sleight???? i was thinking about this for weeeeeeeks, and i thought well, he is too good....then until i see WOW blank...then i was thinking "damn that's easy...haha..no skill"

They got a WOW2.0 with gimmick and teaching DVD.
Includes either face up or face down.
Recently i brought a WOW gimmick face up from singapore magic castle (wonder if mention of dealer in SG can be allowed in this forum) , the dealer said it was from Taiwan.
A lot cheaper than original. the quality should be not so bad. but still a bit of "trace of card show" it may be because of the the gimmick is not fully "unclose" and certain on BLACK background, and acute angle, trace of card will be spotted. (most audience won't notice that)
If all those non-original means that they use the creater idea and remake this gimmick to sell it in cheaper price. i wondering whether is this piracy?
So anyone brought just the gimmick in SG at a cheaper price, is the quality good?

So magic castle is selling compatible magic products too? That's as good as following TMH's footstep. Shame on them. <_<

Just to feed in my input for wow2.0. Basically, it's nothing different from the original wow. Bear in mind both are by Masuda. The only add on is that it is available in fAce down version. And Chris ballinger taught a few variations of how to use the card sleeve, and the presentation . Though it may be basic and simple, but fundamentals are the root to all great magic:)
As for wow 3.0, I saw some overseas website selling it with joker or blank face. But I think it's quite expensive especially it's in pounds.
My review of wow 2.0 (1 being easiest to 10 most difficult)
Ease of use: 4
Sleight: 1
Practicality: subjective ... But works well for me. (depends on how you structure your routine and tell a story)
Hope my review is useful

Its a clever product.
The gimmick is fragile, so take note of those moisture, it could damage your gimmick, just like it did for me. Note: massive moisture on your hands is not recommended when you use this product repeatedly.
PM me if you'll like to know more. Because of this, I purchase Wow 2 times. :)
