Title: Harada Hold
Description: Where can i learn it?

LoyaLover - February 4, 2009 11:54 AM (GMT)
Besides the fantastic recommendations from our fellow magicians, i have been doing my own research and i came across what some call the cleanest coin vanish, Harada Hold. I remember researching on it before and i recall some saying how it isn't that practical. But the magicians in the video below make it look like pure sleight of hand that's extremely fesible.

Im just a beginner who doesn't know as much as many here. Like a child who is full of curiousity. I really would like to know more about this move and if there are any resources on it. Im praying that there is a dvd on this but something tells me that it may be from a book. :(

Yup, the Harada Hold is good.....if your hands are wide.

My hands just cant c**p the coin. -.-

Just have to wait 5 more years, grow some bigger hands.

Or I can just get stung by a bee

A quick google gives you plenty of results.

Seek and you will find.

If I never remember wrongly, it is very angle sensitive, only good enough for up to 2 audience standing in front of you.

Similar to JW Grip?

Its far from JW Grip.

Ah i think i need to rephrase. I meant if the angle issue is similar to the J.W Grip.

Oops, what's the JW Grip? I have heard Jerome mentioned it before... just forgot how it looks.

Magicdow - February 6, 2009 12:18 AM (GMT)
JW Grip has a slightly better angle as you can always hold it near to your body.

Axl, JW Grip looks like you are holding an invisible coin in between the middle finger and thumb.

The Harada Hold is a very interesting sleight and kudos to Daiki Harada to come up with it. However, as mentioned by everyone already it's super angle sensitive. Many times more than JW Grip. JW Grip can easily be manuvered to other concealments but Harada Hold is very restricted. Hence, in terms of practicality for close-up, Yes only if you perform to 1 person face front. Other than that, I personally feel this sleight is only good for TV magic.

Axl, I've shown you JW Grip before. It's a production I use often where your hands looks very clean and your fingers curl to form a letter C. Hope this jogs your memory...

Oh... Ok... Remember it.

I see. Thanks for the clarification. I guess its not that fesible. Anyone here uses it often? It really looks quite good on screen.

I got myself the harada hold at a reasonable price, and i thought i'd give my opinion, in case someone takes interest.

I would say that it is a move that requires alot of practice. And it turns out that it isn't that worth the practice for me. Similar to the CP, it is probably something you got to get comfortable with. The bad side to this is that the harada hold isn't something you get to practice all day long with.

Similar to most coin moves, the structure of your hands, how boney, how fleshy etc, also affects the move.

With regards to angle, i don't think its much worst than J.W Grip or anything like that. Only problem should be on how smooth one gets with it.
