Title: Lit Performances
Description: Performing Lit in Brunei
Logan - February 13, 2009 09:55 AM (GMT)
Hi guys,
I recently test-drove Lit (by Dan Haus and Dan White) in Brunei. I'm not entirely sure about Singapore but I haven't seen a book of matches in Brunei; so I wasn't too sure if it would be as impactful here as it is in the States (in the States, you can get a book of matches FREE at any store, just have to ask). Due to the structure of the routine, spectators get acquainted with the matchbook anyway, dissolving any suspicion.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kGJxdYqdwKwI was surprised at how well it went down and just how powerful it was. Just goes to show that sometimes the "don't think so much lah!" attitude actually works!
This was filmed at my university in Brunei, performing for my friends and lecturers.
Hope you guys liked it ^_^
Stay safe all,
Logan

By the way, just so everyone knows, you CAN do this with cards other than the Jack of Diamonds :) I just didn't get the chance to.
Furthermore, this video is just to show the reactions to this effect and how powerful it is. It's not a product demo or anything more.
:P

GET TO SEE EVIL!!! :D
Another nice video... clean

Haha, thanks jiawen!!
Yeah, everyone is now ragging on about my supposed deals with the devil :P
That's a SIGN of a good effect I think

its sick...agreed. It needs a gi***ck though. No DIY right?
LarryDK - February 13, 2009 03:11 PM (GMT)
Zzz.. Appreciate the effect and please don't ask, "It require a gimmick right?"
That is equal to fishing and what's the point.
And to answer your question, no, it require no gimmick but pure sleight of hand.
Anyway Logan, that was a real good one, good misdirection, and control over the whole act. Even I was not expecting the turnover of the events going through.
Sad to say, those kind of matchbox are quite rare in singapore, I only see a few, in some hotels, but can't get it anyway else in singapore that easily.
Thus, if someone else is to do it in singapore, he will have a hard time sourcing for it and keeping it in stock. :)

chizzielamer,
I believe the term you're meaning is 'gaff' and yes it does use specially printed cards so you'll need to pick 'em up at www.papercranemagic.com as they are the producers of the effect. This effect was used by David Blaine on his last special.
Larry,
Brother, thanks for your kind words!
Yeah, so it's the same in Brunei then! I had to special order mine from the States, so I ordered a batch of 150 matchbooks at one shot. Trust me, it wasn't easy because many sites either sell you in a batch of 1000+ ONLY or they sell in small quantities but do not ship overseas due to postal regulations of flammable objects.
Somehow the last site I tried could send them internationally, so yay :D

Very good... Nicely done..
Btw, you jahat <_<

Hi Logan,
Is it possible to share with me the site on the matchbooks?
Looking for these everywhere in singapore but to no avail.
Thanks in advance =)

Logan, I have always enjoyed your videos, this one is nicely done, again! In fact, I think this would probably make a very good trailer for LIT.
Alvin, wait for the matchbooks. Murphy will be carrying them soon.

Thank you for the insight! I did not expect Murphy to carry them at all.
Thanks again ^^

bigbadwolf,
The site I managed to get them from was:
http://www.thecraftersloft.com/However I just checked and it seems like they're updating the site so you may have to wait a while.
Good to hear Murphy's will be carrying them in the near future!
Magicdow,
Thanks buddy :)
I truly appreciate your kind comments regarding my videos, it truly makes my day ^_^
Yeah, I too realized it looks like a trailer for the effect! I really wanted the focus to be on the reactions...well, if you think about it, that's what trailers try to show as well
Victor,
Thanks buddy!
Yes, I'm very jahat. :P
The girl who called me jahat, after I finished performing, she told me she had to cleanse the room after I leave!!
I love Lit!!
LarryDK - February 19, 2009 06:26 PM (GMT)
Hey Logan,
I came out with a conventional method of Lit. I sent you a PM of it.
Hope you like it.
