I googles the link out,

I felt this looked really nice and I wanted to make it, the more important fact, is that its hollow inside, thus allow you to put in little things if you wanted to in the furture.

Forgot to add this,

Some 10 ++ sheets of paper later, I still can't get past 25, in fact I keep tearing the paper at 24

tygnehc123, are you an origami pro???

Oh right, good luck with the roses Deckker... it really is an awesome gesture for Valentines! I'm sure the lucky girl would love it to bits! ;)

Aloy - February 7, 2005 04:38 AM (GMT)
Speaking of origami, I was once shown a book on a little known genre of origami, Adult Origami. :ph43r:

I think some of the items in that book is very suitable for V-Day. Really communicates the message of exactly what you are trying to say to the girl with your origami present.

You guys can find it in Kinokuniya i think. A well worthy investment if you are planning to REALLY impress your girl this Valentine's B)

Ning - February 7, 2005 06:25 AM (GMT)
Wow Morphy, you really seem well versed about it... did you actually buy a copy? Tell/show us more  What's so special about this origami book huh?

Oh i know nothing about origami at all i assure you ;)
I had a date with a very interesting girl once and we were browsing in Kinokuniya when she VERY EXCITEDLY showed me the book.
I think it's titled Adult Origami. -_-
The items demostrated in the books are of a very expressive nature which I think will be well suited for any guy to express his adoration and his every loving intentions to the girl of his dreams for Valentine's.

In fact, my friend was so impressed she made a $10 bill version of a erm.....ding dong and kept it in her wallet. :ph43r: She was very facinated and well pleased with it so I think it will go down very well with girls.
What better way to show you really care than to fold her a Mound of Venus fashioned after herself? :ph43r:

Ning - February 7, 2005 06:52 AM (GMT)
Really......... goodness! You sure go out with very erm, interesting girls Morphy! :P

Wait, isn't the mound of Venus that fleshy part on the palm of your hand? That's what my palmistry book says... what's so " :ph43r: " about that??? http://www.handanalysis.com/venus_vertss.html

But anyways, back to Deckker's post (stop hogging the limelight now Morphine) - is there an origamist in the house?

Oh. Gee. I don't know.
I've heard that the mound of venus is very sensitive to the touch apparently.
I'm really not sure about it. Maybe you call tell us more about that. :ph43r:

Ning - February 7, 2005 07:21 AM (GMT)
huh? like, doesn't everybody have palms??? maybe some people are sensitive to touch but, that's what skin is for??? I'm confused!

Aloy - February 7, 2005 07:29 AM (GMT)
yah? so am i. i dun have much experience in these matters. :ph43r:

My granduncle, who's an origami master, once taught me how to fold this rose:

http://home.comcast.net/~peterfarina/flowers/vvmrc.html

Using the right coloured paper it really looks nice. I'm not really good with this kind of stuff but I suppose you could present a girl with this box and then as she wonders what it's for, (insert magical gesture if you feel like it) open it up to form the rose to give her a pleasant surprise :)

Problem is, pretty much forgot how to fold liao :ph43r:

Guess I could try to figure out if anyone's interested.

Russell - February 7, 2005 10:46 AM (GMT)
By the way, the granduncle my brother is talking about is Ronald Koh. Run a search for him and you should find something. Too bad the outing ia after Valentine's Day or else we could bring one to show them. We still have one lying around right?

Anyway, its not just right coloured paper, the type of papers helps alot from what I remember. Or else your box will just collapse

Deckker - February 7, 2005 12:42 PM (GMT)
Well I have finally figure it out, it looks terrible, but I got it right, need some practice to make it happen. It took me abour 2 days to understand the floding enough to make it look like a rose.

But its a beautiful rose, the effort was worth it. Sadly I have less than 24 hrs left to make it happen in order for the mail to get it in by then. Know I need to prepare my back up plan, if in case it does not work out.

I am going to get really good at orgami after this, this rose is a murder to make, but a true beauty to behold.

The thing is hollow inside, so you can add little things inside if you wanted to surprise.
