Title: Lu Chen Card Prediction Effect

Doublelifter - May 4, 2009 09:13 AM (GMT)
Watched Lu Chen performed a prediction card trick on Ch U on Sun
and I was intrigued. The effect is as follows:

He show a blue-backed deck both sides as a normal deck.

Took out 1 red-backed card (face not shown) and wrote "my prediction"
on the back of the card and insert it into the blue deck, and cut the
deck several times and spread the deck face-up.

Next as he deal the cards face up one by one onto the table telling
an audience to say stop whenever she wants. After saying "stop" the
audience can even choose whether it's the card on the table or the
top card still in his hand.

The stopped at card turns out to be his prediction red-backed card. He
repeated the trick 2 more times with 2 more red-backed cards.

Cool trick, any of you guys knows what's this effect and is it
marketed.

I know how it's done but I don't know whether it's marketed or not.
I think it could be his original idea.

Do not want to expose the secret. But think along the lines of the brainwave deck. Similar but two points of difference!

laurensz - June 7, 2009 02:55 AM (GMT)
hi reddot,

you shouldnt even mention anything. that's a give away!

RedDotMagic - June 7, 2009 04:19 AM (GMT)
Hi laurensz, I believe there was no give away. A give away would be blatantly stating the method or principle behind it. I am just suggesting a reference for him to ponder upon. Cheers!

laurensz - June 7, 2009 04:34 AM (GMT)
hi,

look...the reference you made might as well give it away, if he think hard enough...

even if you mentioned something like : he is using a gimmick card
that will throw the game away.

the best way to destroy magic is to reveal its secret.

Only those who can't do, teach.

regards.

So you're saying you own/ invented this and you are selling it?

Please adhere to the rules of this forum. There are certain rules that we enforce strictly. Thanks.

P.S, please start a new sentence with a capital letter. This is to make the forum tidy.

No...that's not what i meant.

Are you the administrator of this forum?

I am not the inventor of this trick. But i wouldn't give Lu Chen's secret away because i know something. It's not right and unethical.

Well, there is no law to govern any magic secretsto be exposed. But a healthy exchange of ideas or learning for a fee for those who are dying to know is one way to learn magic.

regards.

Then why are you offering to teach it for a fee?

I wouldn't call it healthy to exchange ideas or learning for a fee if that effect doesn't belong to you. True, there are no such laws, but we do have rules here. We can't decide what you want to do outside of this forum, but we wouldn't allow the forum to be misused.

Just think about it, if you were create a new effect and put it on the market, then you have people selling the secrets without you getting a cent for it, how would you feel? Or how about this, you pay $50 for a DVD to learn an effect. A peer learn it unoffically from another source for $25. How does it make you feel? As I consumer, I'd be unhappy to pay full price for an item while others learn it for a lower price or even free.

This topic has been discussed before, some of you may agree with me whilst others may not. I hope people will realise why there are people who are against such practice.

well then...

The bosses of Magic Castle and Magic Hall and likes should be sued. They taught magic for $20-$100 an effect, which they are not the author.

If we can't even exchange ideas, what is this forum for?

Also, to teach at a fee, so that magic dosen't comes freely. If something is free, it would be given away freely too. So must charge at a fee.

I am sure teaching dvds in the market have sorted or quote their inventors' name for certain techniques and effect. When i said i am willing to teach at a fee, of course i am quoting Lu Chen. I am not even considering contacting him to ask for permission "hey, can i teach someone one of your effects?", coz he didn't invent it either. He just used principles developed by pioneers and make it into his routine to perform on TV. Do you think he will pay those pioneers part of his fee?

regards.

Like I said before, I can't stop what the shops are doing. But I can stop the what is happening in this forum. And I will not allow the forum to be used as a stage to promote unethical stuffs.

You can exchange ideas in this forum, but you can't sell other's ideas. Wait for a few years more and you'll understand what I'm saying.

Meanwhile, I think you'd probably never agree to what I just said and I'll never agree to what you said. So, we'll probably have to agree to disagree :) . I'll still maintain my stand on the forum's policy. Time to lock this topic.
