Title: Chop Cup With Lemon?

Mystical - May 17, 2009 03:57 AM (GMT)
Hey , I've checked out lots of online dealers but can't seems to find the set of chop cup which in the end you show that there are lemons under the cup.

I'm sure i've seen this on youtube and in an online store but can't seems to find it again. Anyone has any idea on what this chop cup routine is called or where i can get it ?

I doubt anyone would be able to answer your question. There are so many routines that ends with a lemon.

You just need to purchase a chop cup and do a routine followed by ending it with the lemon as the finale. There are a few chop cup routines that are available on DVD. You can end the routine with whatever you want, lemons, potatoes, onions, balls etc.

Yes. All you need is to learn the basic chop cup routine. Any other fanciful variations or endings depends on your creativity not neccesarily a lemon. You can even end with an elephant inside the cup if you can find one that fits. :)

What comes out of the chop cup for the finale is just the final load you decide to put in. Depending on your patter to your routine, anything can be loaded as the final load, the most common as mentioned are fruits such as lemons and oranges. Other more interesting loads can be a Buddha Statue, lots of coins, lots of candies, or a glass full of wiskey.

David Regal have a routine where his final loads are lots of small mice (fake off course). Don Alan and Larry Jennings uses baseball and tennis balls. Michael Ammar uses fake fruits loads. There are many many variations. If you search on online magic dealer site, you might come across some specially made chop cup to specific theme, but those all very expensive. If you are just starting out, you can just get a simple chop cup with load balls for practise. A good Chop Cup design will have illusion that the shape of the chop cup looks as if it's small, but in fact you can actually load something that looks bigger than the cup, but it's just an illusion in the design.

For a cheap and durable chop cup, you are probably good starting off with an alluminium one. For something exotic, Fantasio sells a version with a chinese design, and comes with a final load of a Laughing Buddha Statue.

Here's two DVD that i recommend you checking out in learning your Chop cup routine as I find these two helped me a lot:
1. The Greater Magic Video Library - Chop Cup
2. L&L Publishing World's Greatest Magic - Chop Cup

By the way, if you are really interested in learning Chop Cup, I also highly recommend you to visit to Bill Palmer's Cups and Balls Museum at http://www.cupsandballsmuseum.org
There are history of chop cup and you can see a wide variety of fine collection of different chop cup. You'll need a username and password to access to the site, but that is easy, you just need to drop Bill Palmer an email to the email address curator@cupsandballsmuseum.com on the website and ask him nicely for access. Anyone interested will be granted access as long as you ask politely.

Here's another website that you'll find very useful:

Hope this helps.
