Title: Aced Card?
rknights - February 7, 2005 09:44 AM (GMT)
Hii.. just started out with card some time back, was wondering if anyone could explain what is the difference between an ACed and non ACed.. using Bee card right now coz of the smooth finished..
Beside fanning... which i think the Bee card could do as well.. what else??

AC is the air cushion type finish that u find on bicycle cards.
iewgnod - February 7, 2005 10:46 AM (GMT)
there is'nt any much difference actually
the main differnce is between air cusioned and plastic finsihed cards
some plastic cards are hard and stiff
some cannot fan at all
but they are waterproof and longlasting
pracrice u're tricks in the shower wif those plastic ones B)

always try to get AC cards coz they are better quaity i feel. non ac cards are easier to do cuts but they cat fan after a while. i prefer ac cards :P
GordonLi - February 7, 2005 11:45 AM (GMT)
yea, i prefer AC cards as well, much easier to accomplish certain sleights.

imagine doing elmsley count with plastic cards
anyway, yeah Air Cushion is the finish on the playing card itself, usually looks like billions of tiny indents on the card. ACed decks are generally smoother and perhaps longer-lasting.
also, theres millions of names for the type of finish, AC being a very general term. theres linoid finish for tally-hos, cambric for your bees, and of course the UV500 Air Flow finish on viper tally-hos.
rknights - February 7, 2005 02:58 PM (GMT)
so your meaning with AC consist of cambric finish?? the finish that you mention is totally different things?
tham - February 8, 2005 07:43 AM (GMT)
USPC likes to give different names to the finishes on each of their decks.. some are better and longer-lasting than others. i suppose cambric finish can be considered close to AC.
so the biggest difference between most finishes would be the lifespan of the smoothness and stuff.

Ai ya, just get some ACed decks and feel and see it for yourself. It's so smooth and nice feeling you can't believe it. ^_^ And, nice smelling of fresh ink too!

Those old old plastic ones that i had, i use them to do some violent shit like springing and crazy card shooting or i will rip them in a fit of anger.
:D

cambric is kinda too smooth for me
air cusioned is the best for me
Daren - February 8, 2005 12:17 PM (GMT)
i liek cambric and linoid finishes for flourishes... AC finish for sleights IMO are better....

YES! i love to use the casino bees and tallys ( which are the cambric and liniod finish ) for flourishes !
the bikes are sort of , too smooth , but IMO i hate bikes , only for flourish . but i use them for magic . but most i use tallys for magic as it is more convient as i also prefer them for flourishes too

i use casino bees for flourish and bikes for magic... but both are good=) AC cards are definetely better for magic.. becoz it has the feel..

just got a pack of aladdin and tested out the cards... don't think it's AC.. feels more like plastic.. too smooth.. must get a bike deck and test it out..
neo23 - February 12, 2005 10:56 AM (GMT)
hmm.. wont the box state tat the cards are ACed?
iewgnod - February 12, 2005 02:14 PM (GMT)
aladdins will not state on the box whether its ACed or not
its like a limited edition thigie
now i cannot find it selling in shops
opening aladdins reminds me of opening booster packs of the trading cards i used to play B)
Mystical2004 - February 12, 2005 03:23 PM (GMT)
dunno why... the aladdins now the layer of oil seem to last longer than usual... able to fan at properly... even till now...

haha maybe becaused that aladdin of yours is waxed hahaha jkjk , u are talkin about the normal one right? yeah i use them VERY often at home .
Bone told me today :
" Practise with a new aladdin pack because it is slippery , so when u use a normal Deck of cards which are seasoned when u go out , u will be able to handle them Very well . "
so thats what i am doing now , yeah aladdins will fan for a Long time , but when it come to a point it cant fan no more " Powder " is the Medicine for the Deck .
Anyway , about the Box stating that the cards are ACed , no , not all the Decks states them .
and rknight , Go to a magic shop or landmark and get some bikes , tallys , and bees .
" the Red circle back for tallys is not the same finish as a normal tally-ho deck , it is the same finish as a bike "
hope this helps ^_^
