I find that Tamariz's "The Five Points of Magic" would probably be one of the better resources out there. Many resources often talk about what misdirection is but rarely do they ever teach how, mainly because the subject matter is very difficult to teach, or that even some of the most consummate performers are incapable of teaching it. Tamariz's book provides very useful and practical tips on misdirection and cuts down on the theory.
Many would also recommend Tommy Wonder's books for theory on direction (as Tommy Wonder calls it). I find that it contains mostly theory and little of how to accomplish it. However studying Tommy Wonder's routines will provide a great lesson on the incorporation of misdirection in routines.
For me, some of the most valuable lessons on misdirection have come from performing and studying routines that have a well designed element of misdirection in it.

Well for me, I did really enjoy reading Kenton Knepper's Secrets of Indirection.
As Jlowhy mentioned, Tommy Wonder's stuff is marvelous if you want to witness and study misdirection at its best. I learned a lot from watching his DVDs, including but not limited to misdirection.

A rare post from our beloved Gordon.
Well mentioned, Kenton got several books that mention about misdirection though, but the detailed ones are in the book that Gordon mentioned.
But I have an 2cent worth advise that I wish to mention, misdirection is not easy, but a must to learn. Because it provides great help in any routine or as a form of outs.
The key principal of misdirection, look where you want the audience to look. Sounds easy? Combine it with the move you want to hide during this action. That's the tough part I guess. :)
Good luck to all!

Trust me, get the book. There may not be much hype over the book, but that's unfortunate, because this is one little gem. The only other material I would accord similar recommendation for misdirection is Tommy Wonder's stuff.

I'm pretty interested in Knepper's Secret of indirection. Tommy Wonder's book is excellent... but it has been hard to get hold of one since he passed away.
