Not sure if anyone saw it yet but J C & Ning are getting the 2009 Merlin Awards by the International Magicians Society. They should be the first Illusionists in Singapore to get the award for "Most Original Illusionist" and "Most Original Female Illusionist".

If I'm not wrong, the only other person that I know of that has the award in Singapore is Uncle Bob for "Best Close-up Magician" in 2001. So you can see how prestigious this thing is. :D (If there are more in Singapore and I'm wrong, do forgive me for my ignorance and correct me. Thanks! :) )

And seems like the President of IMS is going to personally give the award in Oct to them.

Looks like everyone is really putting Singapore on the map, from the Virts to J C & Ning. I really wonder which new member in SMC will be the next big thing as well. B)

Wow! Congrats to both of them! That's indeed really something. Merlin Award recipients include people like David Copperfield, Penn & Teller, Doug Henning, Jeff McBride and Criss Angel! So, now we also have Ning and JC, which is absolutely great!

Wow. I never thought that local magicians and illusionists would be able to reach such international recognition and status like these. Kudos to JC and Ning, Uncle Bob and so many other local peeps who have done SG proud!

JC and Ning totally deserves the award - i really enjoyed their record making act that just passed. Looking forward to their next mega act in August!

Incidentally, I am currently the Singapore President for International Magicians Society NY. This is an appointment given to me by Tony Hassini about 10 years ago. I can't remember the exact year of that appointment.

Tony will be in Singapore around early Oct and staying for a couple of days before he goes back home in New York.
