Title: Black Widow

Bryan - October 15, 2009 09:46 AM (GMT)
Hi all,

the one very thing that i can't quite decide on is this:

1. Black Widow,
2. Gecko,
3. Tarantula
4. ITR or
5. M5

I wanted black widow real badly but its price keeps me pondering if for that much more money, is it worthy compared to my alternatives?

I know these gadets produce similar effects and have their own set of limitations as well as made for different situations.

Hi Bryan. Your dilemma with Black Widow, Gecko, Tarantula, ITR and M5 is quite a tough one. You might have to end up getting 3 items because the effects varies.

Black Widow v. Gecko: I would suggest a Black Widow; if my memory serves me well there was a thread on the forum discussing the Gecko. Quite a mix feeling to it. Why the Black Widow over Gecko? The angles are friendlier and there's no "jerking" on your outfit. Only limitation is the size of the objects you vanish. Gecko is really complicated, honestly, unless if you have spare cash.

Tarantula v. ITR: Both functions the similarly. Just that one is high-tech and the other isn't. If you have the confidence, get the tarantula, if it's your first time playing with IT, get ITR. Both are fun from my opinion :)

M5: It appears clean to the spectators and I love it. I simply can't say more about it because I use it often.

The final decision is entirely up to you. But remember the props must fit your style of performing not the other way round.

Good luck!

Why haven't you considered the T---t?
It has stood the test of time and after some research, it definitely top my wishlist.

Of course, it can't be as flashy as the other modern devices or do what ITR and Tarantula can do.

Indeed, given the cost contraints i would only choose one of my options. One of my considerations as well was to:

1. be able to adapt black widow into informal situations (rather than in a stage show with jacket). My outfit would probably with a soft jacket. Thus, I'm quite limited in this area.

2. My second consideration with be the environment. If it's a dead silent room, we might have a problem, right?

I considered t---ts as one of my options but, i guess the variation is far too wide. (I have enough options to ponder over, haha)

True, we might never be able to get the best of both ends, and gecko and black widow are at the top of my list now. Would anybody be able to advise me on the contraints of black widow, given my considerations above?

thanks,

Bryan

By the way, does anyone knows which product can stand the test of soft jacket? In singapore, i dont think we like working around coats.

I wouldn't recommend Black Widow. Don't want to spill the beans, but you'll be disappointed when you see the gimmick that comes with it. It has something to do with weight and bulkiness. My honest opinion

I guess this is probably one of Paul Harris's "not so good" endorsements amongst the fantastic endorsements he has.

To answer to Bryan, probably Gecko, if my memory serves me right :)
