Title: E**sey Count

Hey guys. I was just wondering what are the factors that makes the EC looks perfect. Like how do you know if your EC is perfectly performed.

Not a card guy...but I did practice some of these sleights before.
For any move including the E**sey count, practice constantly! 4 or 5 cards are easy to bring around.
While performing, keep up a constant rhythm while you are counting. Don't make a move out of it, to them you're just showing * cards after all!
Maybe you could take a simple video and let some of the more experienced members here comment.

Confidence. count the cards rythemically and DO NOT pause a second during the move. From experience, a E**msy Count executed with fluidity (but not perfectly in line) is better than a 'clean' count with robotic movements.
Cheer!

I have been practicing the count for quite awhile already. However, I am not sure if it is perfect yet and I cant make a video because the quality of my webcam is lousy as the image comes out very laggyly(if that is even a word). So i was just wondering what makes a good and flawless count.
PS: Do you find it easier to the count with new cards or old and sticky ones?.

Currently, i dont quite feel much a difference between old and new cards. However i do remeber when i first started doing this old cards are better as they then to slip less. (I mean old bicycle, cheap decks are different story all together).
I did a few counts myself just now, everything just feels in motion. what i observe myself doing was the only the counting hand (left hand) was moving - slightly in a circular fluid motion. my right hand, holding the packet was practically still.
I believe everyone has their own comfort zone to do certain moves.
Hope my method would help you!
and btw. don't rush! i take my time and as a matter of fact i take pauses after each count. dont rush to peel cards off. slow and steady is my method

Which one feels more natural?. Counting cards from right to left hand or left to right hand?.
I feel that counting from right to left is looks less flawed while counting from left to right seems more natural. Like usually you would count cards from your left to right hand right?.
Oh, I am a right hander.

i can't stress enough on fluidity of motion. What makes a move natural is how fluid the moves are. so be it left to right or vis versa, i hope you will be able to achieve that.
Since you feel more comfortable with right to left, i suggest you stick to that and practice to make it fluid.
Grab some dvds of the great magicians in play and gather up a few counts. from there practice each and every style. see which one feel more comfortable and then act on it.
PRACTICE MAKES PERMANENT, not perfect!
I can't where this qoute came from, but, how true!

Hey rtdmark,
You will be coming to the gathering right? Why don't you just show us what the perceived problem is and we'll try to help you?

I don't think I would be going because I have other gatherings too. But its okay, I will keep on practicing. I think my count is quite presentable already.
Thanks everyone:)
