Title: Coin Magic Recommendation

ervz - December 7, 2009 05:51 PM (GMT)
Can someone recommend me some easy, cool and amazing coin magic that I can perform?

Bryan - December 7, 2009 11:41 PM (GMT)
This good old copper silver routine has many variations. This classic would be a reputation maker when done right.

MagicalLobo - December 8, 2009 01:19 AM (GMT)
Pick up Bobo's Modern Coin Magic book.
Easy, Hard, Difficult, Amazing, Amusing, Cool, Uncool, Super Cool, Lame, Stupid, Weird, Illusion, Extreme.
All kinds of coin magic you want are in there.

The fundamentals of coin magic is not easy to begin with.

You will need to spend at least 3 months mastering the basic coin moves.

So if you are thinking of real simple self working coin effect... there is none.

Oh wait, there is the sheeps and thieves (Written in Bobo coin magic as well).

LoyaLover - December 8, 2009 03:58 AM (GMT)
Coin magic that hits hard without much practice = Gimmciks.

Nothing with sleight of hands, yet looks like pure magic.

You can try scotch and soda or those coin tubes for starters.

o0oKIRAo0o - December 8, 2009 04:14 AM (GMT)
Thanks for the info, will check on these after thur when my last paper end :P

Well I do plan to get scotch and soda first to try out :g:

Bryan - December 8, 2009 04:26 AM (GMT)
Bear in mind coin gimmicks are nowhere near cheap

o0oKIRAo0o - December 8, 2009 05:13 AM (GMT)
No problem will keep that in mind. :g:

Thanks for the advice. Anyway i will look around more after exams, now stress from studies

You can get Bobo's from Kinokuniya Orchard.
It is at the end shelf in the corner with the French and German books.

Hi!

Thanks MagicalLobo!

Ask my parents to bring me there by begging! (I'm a pro! Just kidding)

But is Bobo's expensive?

Thanks!

Mabas - December 8, 2009 10:55 AM (GMT)
It's reasonable priced. I won't really recommend Sankay's coin magic stuff. Cool stuff but some of which isn't good or practical. I'll go with David Roth's Expert Coin Magic Made Easy DVD set if you have the money. Not bad stuff in there.

But Bobo is still the way to go! Get the DVD only if you have spare cash.

o0oKIRAo0o - December 8, 2009 01:54 PM (GMT)
Okok thanks alot, will check it out :g: DVD wise is there any shop you know of that carries it?

blue_mode_1 - December 9, 2009 12:31 AM (GMT)
Hi!

Going to Kinokuniya today.

I checked their website. They don't seem to have the Bobo's Coin magic. Anyways still will check it out.

Oh and i have to agree a bit with Mabas about the Sankey videos a bit. But some of them are good for

beginners with a few sleights and tricks.

Anyways see you around!

Hi!

Can't believe that the book was completely SOLD OUT!

I must wait till end of the year or next year!

Oh! And o0oKIRAo0o i saw some pretty good magic books there.

There was one magic book that starred Joshua Jay and one starring Derren Brown and not to mention

Nicholas Einhorn. But their books are $30+. Oh! And i went suntec too and browsed magic wand. They have

scotch and soda there. And Bryan was correct. $60+

just for one effect is very expensive. Then again, magic all along IS expensive.

See you around!

Hi, i would like to make an online order for bobo coin magic and would expect to receive it in about 3 to 7 days upon confirmation. anybody would like to pool in so as to get the best rates? I'll be making my orders tonight or tomorrow

Alexander - December 14, 2009 07:03 AM (GMT)
are you ordering from Borders?

Last I heard, you can actually reserve a book in Borders. And its cheaper there.

Bryan - December 14, 2009 07:08 AM (GMT)
Nope, I'm doing warehouse orders. I believe we could get the best prices if the orders are huge enough. So, feel free to throw in other stuff u like.

Btw, from my ordering experience from Borders, they take very long to ship the materials. I've been ordering regularly from the states, and my orders usually arrive within 3-7days from time of order.

Did you manage to get your book else, I have seen it recently at Supreme magic at China town point not sure of the price and I had purchased it from a book shop at Vivo city. Do not remember the book shop name but it is just near where chalanger is located.

My little input for coin beginner.

It is really not easy to learn coin magic from books. You must have minimum sleight of hands on coin before you could learn the rest from books. I use to learn from books but it really takes a long time to understand what they are trying to decripte (Maybe i am not that smart).

I would suggest that you can learn the basic move and know their move's name from the DVD or from your fellow magician. I believe this will help you a lot.

This.

It is easy to misinterpret whats in books especially when your're new. Then you'll be practising wrongly. And you'll need to unlearn what you have learnt.

For a beginner it is definitely easier to learn from someone who can show you exactly how the moves are done. If that is not possible, learn from some videos. I suggest Michael Ammars' beginners video for coin magic.
