When I first started in coin magic, I focused alot on feint moves.
(Real Transfers before execution of techniques)
Another point I noted for coin work is with the closed fist. David Stone explains that one should adjust their fist a little or feel a little weight on their hands to make it look realistic.
These are all very subtle moves and techniques in coin magic and probably in other forms of close up magic too.
But how important are feints? Do you focus on these? Do you make a conscious effort to do a real move first before execution? Do you make a joke out of the feint? What if you have a long routine? Do you repeat the feint? Should you not have put much focus on it nor joke about it in the first place?
I am not sure if my question would get to you guys. But hopefully for those who gets it, ill love to hear your opinions.
Yes, I feel that subtle movements are important in coin magic, for it to look natural and magical.
However, for doing the real thing before executing a move (feint), i feel that if a move requires that to look convincing, it might not be the best thing to do.
Also, it might be me thinking too much but because often there is no good reason to do a feint, doing it might actually be counter productive. I believe it would be more impressive if u put a coin in your right hand and it disappears as compared to you take a coin, put in right then put it in the left, then it disappear.
By doing a feint, might we have given intelligent audiences (many of them) a clue as to what happened? As compared to doing a move right away, catching them by surprise.
