Title: Wrong Card
Description: If a card trick goes wrong...
blue_mode_1 - December 12, 2009 01:49 AM (GMT)
Hi!
Sometimes, when i predict a card, it'll be wrong. Then is there anything i can do to make it seem like it is part
of the effect like doing a backup trick or something?
Thanks!

From my knowledge, there is a trick with an exactly 52 outs. I am not at liberty to disclose it. You may like to use it as your backup plan. Otherwise, use a 52 on 1 card.

You can always "blame" (in a joking manner) the audience from sending you the wrong mental picture or something like that... then proceeded to repeat the trick with a different card.
There are plenty of ways... really. Experience will help.

Yeah...haha....i did that once too. Then use that as a excuse to gain better control over the audience. hehe

Turn it an "intentional magician mistake" then show that you actually knew the right answer all along... use kolossal killer or something similar as an out..

Yup same here, usually from experience, usually say stuff like maybe I am not close enough to read your mind or maybe stuff like "hmmm well i guess I am still out of range" or such excuse.
You just need to find your usual catch phase for excuse.

Usually, I will make sure that I don't fail the trick, by practising as much as possible before performing.
However, if I fail, I will just change the topic ;) , after all, I perform to my friends, and they are quite forgiving.
If you are really performing in a show, I would suggest you don't perform tricks that have a possibility of going wrong.
You can also pretend its on purpose, and say like "GOTCHA! Haha, this was a fake magic trick! Now for the real one..."

Hi!
Thanks for the advice. Point noted. Next time, i need to "blame" audience.
Thanks again!

Eh.. please don't go around blaming audience everytime you got the wrong card. I am just suggesting you can use that at certain times.
Of course, I hope you will never go wrong with the prediction.
Anyway, I realized you were talking about "prediction" here, not mind-reading... which means you meant to have a prediction prior to letting the spec choosing a card.
If that's the case, blaming might not work in this context. Unless you mean to say the same thing.

Hi!
Haha. I wont go around blaming audience all the time. Because majority of my tricks work so those rare
cases are the "blaming" stuff.
Thanks!

Hmm, for me, same as any other people.
Just maybe, act blur and forgetten the card or giving an excuse of anything I can think of and link it. Haha, random thoughts or jokes. =)
Not quite a good magician though for me.

I will just treat it as a gag and move on. People will just thought it is just part of an act. Move on to a good effect! Don't emphasise on your error =)
