Title: Extreme By Bryan Will
Description: The magician fooler
Aloy - September 24, 2004 06:17 AM (GMT)
Effect (as written on the back of the package):
A spectator selects a card in an extremely fair manner, e.g. Four of Clubs. The magician removes the deck from its case and hands them face up to the spectator with the instructions to count them face up and at the same time looking for the Four of Clubs. SOmewhere in the middle of the spectator's count, a card is found to be face down.
SPec is told to place it aside without looking at it. The deal and count continues. By the end of the deck, it is found that there are only 51 cards in the deck and the Four of Clubs did not turn up. Missing!
Speculating that the one face down card is the Four of Clubs, the spectator turns it face up and the tension mounts only to find the words "Gone" written on the face of a blank card.
Note:
- No rought and smooth
- No long and short
- The spec sees the front and back of all the cards
- Virtually self working
- Many many variations possible
Comments (or how i got convinced to pay Magic Castle $50 for it):
This one is such a magician fooler. Solomon started showing it to me exactly as how you would do the invisible deck. So i was, erm...ok....
Then when he takes the cards out of the box and hand them TO ME, i was a bit shocked. The rest of it is exactly as described. I'm no cardian but i can figure out a good number of card tricks i see. The psychology of the expectation really did me in for this, and it felt so good!
There is many variations that can be done with this, because the inert principle is self-working. So depending on your sleight skills, it's virtually sky's the limit for the ending. The 3 version Solomon showed me is different from what is originally described and i find his versions are better.
I've shown it to some people and generally, i think it has a stronger impact with magicians than with layman, although the reactions are all really strong with layman as well. Either that or i'm just an easily fooled magician. :D
The only person that came close to figuring it out is the cousin who initiated me into magic when i was like 6, coz he's a really old school hobbist and i think the principle is quite old.
I give it 9/10.
It visual and quite fail safe. But it is gimmicked and prepared. And it will be very difficult to use the deck for other tricks after this, but not impossible. i have done it before.

Extreme is good. But i don't really think its much of a magician fooler...

I was pretty disappointed when i first got it. But after watching solomons variations, he really made the trick much better. Sol's pretty ingenious the way he works around tricks.. I respect him for that.

Solomon's effect WHOOPS this man! He calls it "51". Do ask him to perform it when you meet him. The method is ingenious with multiple outs. It's KILLER!! I was floored!

Very difficult to explain, come for the outing and I will show you. Slight modification but covers some of the loopholes B)
Solomon also has this other super modified version that's really cool and really takes the trick up to the next level with multiple climax. But it's sort of his own invention so i dun think it's proper for me to reveal it. I haven't practiced that yet to be showing it anyways..... :)

I got tht trick too, it's a killer for laymans. I only got caught once. That woman had a freaky memory. My deck was properly done and prepared. I rushed her, distracted her..and she told me I had some nice "teleporting" cards inside.
Soloman's version? ..really gotta see it
Winder - March 28, 2005 02:46 PM (GMT)
Solomon has alot of version using the principles of Extreme, but not very sure what are the modification.
