Title: Your First Few Card Tricks
Description: That you still use on a regular

LoyaLover - January 15, 2010 02:48 AM (GMT)
I chanced upon many materials on coins. There was plenty of clutter, like vanishing coins with a double sided tape which wasn't practical for me. Of course there are also other sleights that takes you a year to master, and a day to lose it once you don't practice.

In the end I always stuck to the basic routines I learnt when I first started, and slowly built on that.

What about for cards? What was your first card trick, that you still use on a regular? When I posted up this thread I keep remembering how Axl does his Two Card Monte and says that "When all else fails , this doesn't". Many others still do the biddle trick even after years of performing and I believe that it also happens to be one of the first few card tricks they learnt as they started.

What about you? What are some of your workers?

First 3 effects that I still perform nowadays,

1) A Crimp card effect
2) ACR
3) Triumph

3. Chicago Opener

Just5 like you, one of my first few tricks learnt are the ones I'm still doing.
Gypsy Monte!

ChiaWK - January 18, 2010 10:48 AM (GMT)
I still do the Biddle trick.

And of course ID and a few other packet tricks, but that doesn't really count if you're talking about effects requiring sleight.

Just remembered that my very first effect before ACR and Triumph, was actually using a sveng*** deck. I bought it for someone from a toy shop and ended up playing with it myself. I use the mira** deck now, but it pretty much work using the same principle.

ChiaWK - January 18, 2010 12:10 PM (GMT)
I think many laymen know about the sveng*** although it may not be known by that name.

But I think sveng*** is still very powerful, there is a video of Lu Chen's daring utility of this principle. And it totally blowed everyone.

joel - January 18, 2010 12:13 PM (GMT)
Lu Chen was using mir*** deck, not sven****.

For me, ACR is the most regularly performed trick.

ACR with Cyril's ending (only on special occasions)

ACR with Mi**** deck

ACR normal routines with crimp finish or card to mouth, or color change

As for the other tricks,

Triump

Stigmata

I don't like the feel of mi**** deck. I prefer Sven**** due the smooth finishing.

I have been using stigmata for a couple of times, however the response i am getting is not exactly very good. Even though they did not see me doing the sleight, as in scr****ing on the sk**, but many can people whom i did it to can pretty much guess it.

For those that do not know how it is done, their response is not very great too. So i was just wondering how do you make your stigmata effect be great

Check out the link above. There are some useful tips on how you should perform this effect.

Stigmata is one of the strongest effect I have ever learnt. It is probably one of the best way to reveal a card selection. If you present it the right way, people will really think you are doing real magic.

Hi Haruchi,

I hope you could start a separate topic next time instead of replying in other people's thread but asking your own questions.

kidthepd - February 27, 2010 08:35 AM (GMT)
Do as i do and self suffling pack works for me.

Did a do as i do once and when my friend turn her pack over, the first card was her card. Gave her a shock

kser - February 28, 2010 12:27 PM (GMT)
For me it would be:
-Ambitious Card Routine
-Two card monte[ some pros told me it was this name]

If all fail then i use my always work trick:
-Mentalism trick[ basically just find the spectator card]

alexlim - March 11, 2010 09:46 AM (GMT)
One of the first card tricks i learnt that i still use regularly is definitely the 2 card monte. Still brings one of the strongest reactions because the magic happens in their hands.

After a long while of not performing, I too find myself losing touch with the many routines and going back to the biddle.

aaronsim92 - March 27, 2010 01:25 AM (GMT)
My first few card tricks were the Chicago Opener and Two-card Monte, but I don't perform both of these often now.

xpeinx - May 3, 2010 05:46 AM (GMT)
Hmm, for me, it will be 3 card monte (Ace, Joker, 1 random card) and Card prediction with joker reveal. =)

I always love joker reveal, they always bring huge expression to audience's face.

Especially Split Spade, the Queen of Spade gaff card (4 Spade reveal), often i present it as if i chosen it wrongly. And tell them to double confirm it (Queen of Spade), they said "No". But I told them to look closer to what she's holding.

XiaoFeng - May 3, 2010 06:31 AM (GMT)
Mine will be the ACR and a Mind reader trick , rarely perform the mind reader trick but still frequently performinf the ACR , I felt it is a very good and mind blowing trick

xpeinx - May 5, 2010 12:53 PM (GMT)
