There has been quite a bit of hype over this dvd, by the legendary Japanese Magician who has a flare for coin magic.

I myself am quite a fan, and I believe most coin workers would very much admire his work as well.

Before getting the dvd, I knew from the start that I probably won't be able to do a single routine from the disc. Having said that, many others are like me, but getting it solely to appreciate how good he is.

Its a slient teaching dvd, so language barriers doesn't apply. You get to see a little of Ponta the smith, but everytime with spects on. It is a very straight forward format.

Routine performance - Explaination

For the explaination it is divided into "3 sections".

1) Ponta attempts to slow down (Its still to fast for most of us)

2) Explaination dvd is automatically slowed down to probably x0.6 of the usual speed (This did not help me and I had to slow it down further to analyze his moves)

3) Full speed explaination - view from back
( This is when you feel like crap, because it looks faster than performance speed. )

Am sure many more will be getting this dvd to explain whether its worth the purchase soon enough.

Personally, it is more of a dvd for you to appreciate how good he is and how difficult coin magic is. lol.

It is definately not for beginners and not even from intermediate coin workers. Some of the more important moves that would help if you knew it before hand are the following:

1) Edge G**p - Ponta uses this quite often and with a slight variation/handling

2) Harada Hold

3) Fingertip Pass

4) Muscle Pass

What you can attempt to gain out of it is from his matrix section. As we all know, Matrix isn't as difficult as compared to some stand up coin work. You probably can't be exactly like his style particularly because he has had experience with handling coins that way.

What you can gain from it are ideas which could help you to be one ahead in your existing matrix routines.

Recommended dvd? - Not quite if you are hoping to learn something from it.

Have you checked out Split Happens? That my friend is far superior to Sick! I have been performing it to hundreds of lay people and it never fails to get a gasp!

Hello Hello! Thank you for the recommendation!

I think one can really do miracles with gimmicks. But the beauty in Sick i guess is how every single routine is a miracle without gimmicks, relying on pure skills and techniques.

You may still disagree, but i think i saw one of the most beautiful routines from Sick! Having said that, perhaps Split Happens provides a cleaner handling of some classics i guess. For laymen who doesn't enjoy extrodinary sleights, gimmicks might be the way to go?
