Title: Valentine's Date
Aloy - February 13, 2005 11:07 AM (GMT)
Has it really come to this?
A really good friend of mine just called me and offered to hook me up with her collegue who is "very nice and sweet and pretty and wouldn't break your heart!" for a valentine's day date!

I have no idea how to react.

I asked her if she thinks I'm really in trouble in that department now and she assures me that it's only because "you are also so nice and sweet, so i thought i'd let you guys meet". She even offered to double date us with her bf

I don't know whether to be insulted or flattered or tickled or happy or what............ B)
I thought that's so interesting I just have to post it/show off. :P
First time in my life someone offered to arrange a blind date for me :D
But i thought it's really sweet of her to have thought of me, and be worrying about my Valentine's Day program thou...

When someone is thinking of you, it is a good thing,
When someone is helpping you, it means they care, It is a great thing.
Be flatter that they remembered you and consider you worthy of sharing with people they care about.
Be friends with her, if there is something there, it will bloom naturally, if there is nothing, then it is best not to force it.
Me...My V day will be in a Orientation Camp in my UNI.
What a way to spend with people more than half a decade youngert than me.

Oh tomorrow's Valentine's Day.
Well, my class got a Valentine's mystery game thing. Each will have a secret partner, so must get a little Valentine's gift for that person. Pretty fun. :P
Anyways, Happy Valentine's day everybody. B)

Morph... u silly boy... if u dun go, then...
...can i go in place of u?
my Q no is 4 digits long... long wait lah.
Well i did have a "blind date" once, not exactly, but my friend's friend had a singles' party on v day exactly 2 yrs ago, and apparently they were told that everyone had to bring a partner (turns out later that the "bring a partner" bit was only added in while the msg was disseminating), so she had a friend who was "dateless" and asked if i would be her fren's date. being perpetually single, (and thus free on v day) i agreed lah. Although there was no bonfire, or sparks even, we all had a nice time at the party, and me and my "blind date" go to the same church now, and are friends.
Aloy - February 14, 2005 03:59 AM (GMT)
Oh, Aloy is ALL for meeting new people on a social basis and I often do. But on V-Day, as a "blind date", it's just madness B)
Anyways....
Happy Valentine's everyone!!
Ning - February 14, 2005 06:16 AM (GMT)
Honestly, I personally prefer deaf & mute dates, rather than blind ones.

Morphine,
Feather duster......easy right. :D
I admit there are some intersting and familiar reactions.
Ning - February 18, 2005 08:48 AM (GMT)
Right... did you guys know feathers are very IN this season? All designers are making use of them for hats, handbags, etc, etc... But I digress. We should be talking about magic right? :P Has anyone seen Hank Lee's Ploating Feather?

I swear guys have a natural aversion to blind dates...I asked a friend to help out by going for one, and he nearly jumped down my throat. -.-
Anyway, now that v-day is long over...I can safely ask this: What's with the couple craze on v-day?? Whoever said v-day can't be for friends or family...Anw, to all the singles and availables out there, it means you still have your options open! :D
Sorry if I'm posting overdue responses all the time...trying to catch up on the months I've missed! How on earth does anyone read through all the threads completely...-.- :off:

To do anything on V day, it something special.
Even if you do not mean it, you are worried people think you are thinking that way or may take it wrongly, so it is better to error on the side of caution.
Example, say I folded a dozen orgami roses as practice for the real one to give to my GF, the practice one I give to Ning, not saying the practice is ugly, it was expermental.
She might think I am trying to court her, when It is just that I hate to throw away hardwork.
OK, now I am waiting for Ning to suddenly turn me into little shreds of flesh.

uh.. cuz for families you have things like
- mother's day
- father's day
and for friends you have..
-international friendship day!
so obviously, valentine's day should be a "couple" exclusive :)
anyway, guys or gals shouldn't be scared of blind dates! (or deaf or mute dates for that matter..) just treat it as making new friends! widening your social circle! you never know who you're going to meet ;)
every smc meeting is a blind date (with many people!) haha!
[wy~*] - February 21, 2005 02:40 PM (GMT)
Haha, to me v-day is just a special day for ALL your loved ones! Blind dates depend on who set them up for you hahaha...might get sabotaged.
