Title: Svengali Uses

muscleaxl - April 26, 2010 05:48 AM (GMT)
Was at the new magic shop I wrote in an earlier thread.

It was an elderly female demonstrator tending the shop, and she was showing a customer a svengali deck. She did something quite accidental, but IMO, to good effect.

As usual, she got the guy to choose a card, replaced it and then she proceeded to flash the cards in the "correct" side (different faces), asking him if he had seen his selection. He replied no.

She was genuinely puzzled by her failure. She flashed the deck 2 more times to him and still he didn't see it. Finally, she checked the cardbox, and sure enough the "selection" was there inside (she forgot to take it out along with the deck). Then she went on to the "whole- deck- turn- into- the- selected- cards" thingy.

I could tell from the guy's expression that he was quite surprised to see his selection "transposed" into the box when the whole time she did not went anywhere near it. While it was an accident on her part, it was really a happy accident. She might not have gotten such a strong reaction if she had done the "traditional" presentation.

Anyway, my question is: do anybody of you have any other creative ways of using the deck??

I mean if she had done the "traditional" presentation,

Svengali Deck are the first magic deck that I own.

There are many ways to use it.
1 Trick that I invinted was call the Gaps

How the trick go:
It was teacher day, so I went back to my secondary school and show my teacher a trick using the svengali deck.
I explain it to her that the deck was normal, I am a close student to her, just like mother and son, so I told her that "since we are so close, let this deck prove how close that we are"
After telling her that the deck was normal, I even flash it to her that it was all unsame.
And go on with the trick, she choose 1 card, of course that was the choosen card.
Then she go on and hold that card down, (not returning the card to the deck)
then my turn to choose a card.
My teacher knowing that the deck was normal, even it was not, I told her that lets see how much gaps we have in between.
And when she show her card and I show my card, they are both the same and I explain to her that "we are so close that there is no gaps beween us."
she was so shock that there are 2 same card in 1 deck.
But we know that it is the Svengali deck that do the trick.
