kia619 - May 24, 2010 12:49 AM (GMT)
Hi everyone!!!
I was wondering if u guys can recommend some opening effects which doesnt requires a gimmick to do it before u start off to perform the card tricks. Helpful comments are welcome.
THanks!!

It depends on what kind of trick you want to do next, but actually there is an effect which is quite good i feel but requires a gimmick, its called sudden deck, its quite good and is the perfect entrance for a deck.

Maybe Introducing the colour and style of your special deck then with a card change? =)
Like black deck, firstly show them red cards. Then use classic change or something to show them the white cards. =) Just my random opinion

Hi,
i would perform a routine with svengali to hook my audience. Then i will use normal deck.
if no svengali, I will do a quick Color change after introducing myself.
Jlee,
i didnt know about Sudden deck, very interesting; how much did you get it for?

It also depends on what kind of environment you're performing in. Check out 'Sudden deck 2' by David Regal.

Oic, any other opening effect we can introduce ourself?
I wasn't that creative to think of other than Colour change. I mean....with just 1 deck of normal cards. =/ Lazy to bring more than 1 deck around. Haha

kia619 asked about opening effects to introduce a deck of cards, not to introduce ourselves.

Hmm, guys, any other tricks?
Haven't have any idea recently to come out with my routine.

I recommend the " any card at any number " , it a strong effect which allow us to interact with the audience . I personally liked it

How about topsy turvy cards? The one where you put half facing top, the other facing bottom, and you straighten everything in the end?

If it is, then you are not performing it correctly.
--------------------------
kia619, without knowing your current skill level, the resources that you have, or what you are using the opener for, it is difficult for people to make good suggestions for you.
In the end, it might just end up with people suggesting effects that you don't have of which you have to buy or effects that may not be suitable in your situation.
What is it that you hope to use the opener for and why? Do you have an opener that you are already using?

Annihilation deck would be good to shock the audience.

topsy curvy cards can be good at times. Some subtleties and our attitude towards the cards are the key to making it looks good! other than that opening effect must be short and sweet I feel =)

You have to show me your handling at the next gathering. I've also thought it was quite obvious. I've never put much effort into doing it properly though.
