Title: Kryptical Konjuring
Russell - February 19, 2005 03:20 PM (GMT)
If this is a lousy review, blame Farid not me. He said I must review it.
Tricks:
First of all I'm quite new to coin magic so the moves in the coin tricks are quite hard for me.
Invisible Pockets is direct routine and the moves are quite simple to do I guess but I can't do it beacuse I don't really know how to do a T**** P***.
Ninja Coins is my favourite coin routine of the 3. Its a coins across routine where a coin VISIBLY appears. Once again the moves seem hard, but maybe its just for me.
Open Travellers is a coin routine with many vanishes and reappearances. Reminds me of the Las Vegas Leapers trick done with cards in a way. Unfortunately it requires a gimmick which I don't have.
Sonic Spheres is definitely a routine Farid put some work into working everything out. The ending is interesting, producing a tomato, a lemon and an orange from just 2 cups. Though I do a chop cup routine and not cups and balls, some moves can be used for the chop cup routine.
Other stuff:
Farid added a few entertaining stuff here and there in the video. I especially like the part in his sonic spheres video where he went "Its ok. Don't worry. stay right wehre you are :g:.
The video editing is decnet I guess but I don't know why he liked to change the colour of his video in ninja coins
All in all, I think this is an example of money well spent.
PS: The cd cover came out when I was took it out of my bag. managed to fix it back though :D

OMG! The video was totally WEIRD. I mean, it was so formal! WHY LIKE THAT!? Farid must stay Farid and crack the Farid-level-jokes! OMG. All in all, the video was a little under my exoectations, thoughI couldn't do a better job...

Aisey people!
so fast come up with review?
and Buaya, i couldn't help being formal lah. it was so hard to perform for a camera. no one to talk to, no one to respond to. the first cut was even worse. my friend who reviewed it for me said i was VERYVERYVERY boring.
so the next DVD, which will be coming out at the end of the year, will be more entertaining ok?
thanks for the reviews guys!
could i have some more?

that nose sweat move can be modified, you know.
the 'saliva move', or dried animal semen move.
it's a free choice.

 |
actually, it only sounds different to the person on video.
A speaks to B (sound waves travel from A's mouth thru the air to B's ears)
but sound waves travel through solid (the head) to A's ears
so A hears the same voice differently from B
on video, the microphone captures the sound waves travelling thru the air, so when played to A, it will sound diff, but to B, its the same.
if u dun get it, nvm

Magicdow - February 25, 2005 04:20 AM (GMT)
I just watched the video, but didn't finish watching it as my computer keep hanging when I played the cd.
Anyway, I don't find this video formal. The setting was casual.
I like the routines in this video as they don't contain cards :) . The routines are similar to some routines out there (its really tough to come out with totally new coin routines).
The Invisible pocket routine is nice. I took out my coin and followed the instructions but realised that it felt funny. Then I realised that Farid is actually using his left hand to do all the sleights. This actually made right handers easier to learn. Just imagine you're looking at the reflection in a mirror, i.e your RH does whatever Farid's LH does.
Open travelers is a nice well thought out routine. Time to take out my E[ now.
Ninja coins, I think the arrival of the last coin to the you know where (don't want to spoil the fun for those who have not watched it) was done by Michael Rubinstiein.
The vanish of the last coin is also similar to Kirk Kokinos's sleight in his DVD (Bared Handed, avoid this dvd).
Cups and balls, those who went for the competition will know how it will look like in real life. Nice idea, using sound to cover sound. Paul Gertner and Pat-Trick also uses similar props in their C&B routine, ball bearings for the balls.
Overall, I like it. And its only $15. Even Patrick Wan says its cheap ;)
What more can you get for $15, at least it beats buying individual rip-off routines for $25.
Recomended.

thanks for the review magicdow.
yup, it's hard to come up with original stuff for coin work. but i did try my best. and kirk kokinos' method of disappearing a coin in his DVD was done with two hands. i strived for a cleaner look with my version. and this vanish is way too old, i believe. don't know who's the originator of it.
and
"Ninja coins, I think the arrival of the last coin to the you know where (don't want to spoil the fun for those who have not watched it) was done by Michael Rubinstiein. "
yup, i knew about that. but the method might not be the same i guess. i really don't know how he does it. my method is rather crude really. LOL
but thanks for the review man! appreciate it a lot.
^_^
