Hi,
How to start intro ? I am a guy, 24 already, now trying to learn some magic.
How I start magic ?
My first magic was bought at Hereen shopping center. I spended like $80 for a dice and a deck of cards.
Dice - 2 knots, one sting, one dice. Able to stop the dice in the middle of the string and move when command.
Card - able to ask viewer pick the card and get back his card. Able to shuffle out 13 cards from the same shape. Able to take (i try before) 5 persons cards out from a shuffled deck.
2nd magic - at Penasula Shopping Ctr. Buy a coin trick. Just 2 bass object able to make the coin jump from on bass to another.
3rd magic - Chinatown, a HongKong magic stall over the chinese new year. buy 3 VCDs, end up, it's a angle tricks and nothing back some distriction. I quite dissapointed with this...
4th magic - intro by a friend, to visit Magic Castle @ Shaw Tower. (today) Make member and now still trying to do "The Dark Card" and "Hele Card"
Today, i join this forum, hoping to expand my knowledge in magic and hope to know more people sharing the same interest like ME ~ :g:

1) $80 (Hereen)
2) $30 (Penasula)
3) $115 (Magic Castle)
Wad books u suggest ?
kryptikalism - February 24, 2005 03:29 PM (GMT)
royal road to card magic
bobo's modern coin magic
lots more actually..
i'm not saying you shouldn't buy single tricks or packet items, but...
DON'T buy single tricks or packet items.
unless they are utility gimmicks, or stuff you'll use often. otherwise, they're just a waste of money. DVDs and books are better investments.
BuaYa - February 24, 2005 03:30 PM (GMT)
Making mistakes is a part of growing up. I did SOLELY packet tricks and gimmicked tricks for about 1 whole damn year before I started sleight of hand.
kryptikalism - February 24, 2005 03:32 PM (GMT)
i'd have to agree with you on the mistakes part Buaya. but we can help LV out with information regarding effects available in the market from now on but tapping on our own resources which are mostly grounded in experience and expertise.

Books I suggest:
The Complete Idiot's Guide to Magic Tricks.
by Tom Ogden
Magic For Dummies.
By David Pogue
Mark Wilson's Complete Course in Magic.
I guess u can find those titles in your local library for "free".
For me, Buying or not buying gimmick / packet items depends on what purpose are you jumping into magic. But it's true like other guys said: always need to learn sleight of hands.
Hello Elvi, welcome to dee forum. I'm also beginner 'like' you.

i think theres nothing bad abt making "mistakes", things is, u learn alot.
i spent years doing "stupid" stuff (as i reflect upon my past now), but it does build up a solid foundation in magic for u.
