Winder - February 25, 2005 02:06 PM (GMT)
I would only say this isn't a FREE TRICK Website, i think the newspaper didn't state anything. Kindly DO NOT ASK for any exposure or someone to teach you before i would kindly raise any warning levels. Thank you, if you want something and you are interested in something. BUY it, use $$$ to buy books or dvds, Anything free wouldn't be appericated.

Ok first we do not expose anything.. second wat you wan to learn can be found in books and DVD.. third everything need practice and more practice.. four you need showmanship to do it.. Last this is a forum for magcian to get together to improve their skill and not teaching people how to do this how to do that.. :D So if you really wan to know get some books like royal road to card magic, Daryl DVD.. Michael Ammar DVD on cards tricks.. :D If you know how to do it and wan to improves it you are more then welcome to ask and join us for our outing you will know how we works better.. :D And I sincerly hope you enjoy the forum and have fun.. :D

[Ling] - February 26, 2005 05:34 AM (GMT)
Eh Mr. Sebestian... If you really want to learn, go search for the resources and learn by yourself 1st. If you are really really not sure, ask for some tips and advices here and there from the PROS here like Illusionist. ;)

Erm, everything needs self-movitation. Go out there and find something and try them out. And, yeah, this is stricity no-exposure forum... Thank you. B)

And, as you have mentioned, you are into magic for 3 years, why wouldn't you know such stuff? This is interesting... Very interesting.

- Ling.

3 years? You have to be involved for at least 30 years if you wanna ask how to change/switching cards, ask for free stuff and use the words "bahzZ" and "okiezZ". Yeah... work on getting there. I'm sure in no time you'll be at that level where you can ask for advice on how to hold a deck properly and start using Xs in addition to Zs to punctuate every single freaking word you use! Justx likez thex restz ofx usz! w00t!

Oh, and when you reach that stage don't forget to thank me for all this motivation I've given you.

Later.

Don't put him down guys, he might just be having amensia or how do you spell that ?

Sebastian if you wanna learn magic, you gotta put in money, time, practice. SMC members are all SERIOUS in this art of magic and we will do anything to stop people from ruining the art of magic, and that includes :ph43r: Hehehehe ~ Good luck :)

BuaYa - February 26, 2005 03:14 PM (GMT)
My post about offering to teach him for a kings' randosm OBVIOUSLY was a joke. Sighz. Why the moderator deleted it?

Huh, u say u been in it for 3 years and u say u duno magic? :ph43r:

Barney - February 26, 2005 06:24 PM (GMT)
3 yrs sounds a little exaggerated man.. I mean, i just started THIS Jan.. Which means i am not even 2 Magician Months old.. B) i can already do the stuff (really simple stuff) i need to make ppl go 'What the..' :g: and that's good enough for me! ^_^

I'm not too interested in learning newer and newer tricks and stuff, but the art of 'audience impact' (whoa. sounds cool!) :D btw, to sebastian, impact is more impt. Not a new trick. I read somewhere.. A magician once claimed that 'to know and master 3 good and simple sleights were better than rushing thru multiple sleights.' (or something like that. I think i'm wrong for the last part). Anyone know who quoted the above?

First and foremost let me explain why the replies here are seemingly harsh.

The people here are staing the facts. We're a helpful bunch of magicians, believe me... Unfortunately, due to a recent surge of laymen magician wannabes or worse, people who pretend to be magicians to fish for secrets, you can't really blame any of us for giving curt answers to your question.

Being into magic for 3 years as you have claimed and not knowing any colour changes for cards seems really absurd. And if you ARE indeed a magician with 3 years' experience, you wouldn't want to learn a colour change. Even if you have learned at a slow pace and have never done any card magic at all, you'll probably be asking for good resources and teaching material, not for the method itself. 3 years would have made you yearn for the more complex techniques of magic, like philosophy, psychology, audience management and presentation.

We can't help it. Magic's survival requires secrecy. Whilst everyone here will be keen in teaching, helping and guiding a lesser-skilled magician, conversely we wouldn't be bothered risking exposure to laymen, the curious or the wannabes.

Please justify your magic experience before proceeding with methodical queries on magical effects.

Hmmm was my post here deleted? I just pointed out a few websites that would otherwise been easily obtained by typing a few key words into Google.

Oh wellz.

Yes dude magicians are very very particular about exposure, to the point it can totally get on your nerves.

Just relax, and don't get peeved off or otherwise by any of the posts here. Treat it as experience gained in handling a tough audience.

:)

Magicdow - March 1, 2005 01:33 AM (GMT)
Don't spoon feed people. If you can google, so can they. Lots of new members come here and expect to learn free trick.

Want to learn? Be like everyone else, do it the hard way. There's no easy way. Get books from library, shouldn't cost a single cent, sturdy them,

M@gical86 - March 1, 2005 07:00 AM (GMT)
Ya i agree, learn it e hard way...I started out oso wanting to juz find free tricks, but as u go dwn e road,u wil realise tt magic is an art,and not some freebies ting for u to woo gals or whateva...treat magic wif respect...

GordonLi - March 1, 2005 08:38 AM (GMT)
u shud be able to find books at bookstores at under $10, stuff like RRTCM.

Some one should teach you how to spell... if I wanted to read stuff like this, I'd head STRAIGHT to the Vestibule :D

And yeah... magic can't be taught, it can only be learnt. Put in some effort into practicing whatever you know, go out and do it, and when you're sure you've mastered what you can do, and not just "aiya tis 1 too dffclut lah cannot do 1... any1 c4n teach m1 plz plz plZZZ??", head out and pick up some new material. That's the only way to become a magician, and not just "a guy who knows shit".

[Ling] - March 1, 2005 10:09 AM (GMT)
Yeah, those people just come and go... Anyway, this thread has no significant meaning or purpose, except begging and followed by unwanted arguements etc.

God helps those who helps themselves.

Anyone else ina similar 'plight' as this fella, please do the following:

1. Go to the library and borrow some good material - they've got gems in there! :)

2. Find a reputable dealer who can help you with purchases of DVDs, books, tricks, etc that you fancy and wanna learn

3. Get to know us better after you know what you really know so there's an exchange going on.

No such thing as a free lunch dearie... with that, I'm locking up this thread. Thank you ^_^
