:( Can anyone teach mi how to change my avatar to a pic of myself? And bout e personal foto, izit those foto under e signature?

1. Take a picture of yourself. Smiling/grinning/a pensive look/suggestive gestures in the picture are optional.

2. Upload it onto your computer and compress it so it meets the requirements set by the forum for avatars. (I'm clueless about the requirements, so go check it out yourself)

3. Go to My Controls, then to the Avatars section, and click Browse.

4. Search for the file, and click okay. The file name will appear in that little blankety-box.

5. Click upload.

6. This activates a mechanism in the computer that initiates a series of actions that ultimately causes your pic to be uploaded.

7. If it doesn't upload either your pic doesn't meet your requirement or you took a pic of yourself with your hands crossed doing 2 one-handed fans giving that stupid glazed glare, Jay Sankey style. Don't do that. Computers reject that too. Pssh.

8. Beam in satisfaction at your new avatar.

9. Be prepared for people to start making fun of it.

There's a "upload new image from your computer" section below that. That's where you go.

i cnt find it leh, onli got url,den got those width n height thingy...tats all,dun haf anything lik wat u say...

:off: hahaha.. the pic thing was really funny :P

anyway, i think for some people you can't upload to the site? the "enter url" is something like you have to get yourself an image host. for example, ripway.com .. so after you upload your pic, you find the url where your pic is located, type it under the "enter url" place and enter the height and width or else your avatar will be severely mutated.

if you can't understand.. like some people do, pm me :) i'll help you upload..

i think you need a certain number of posts to be able to upload avatars from your pc. aloysius should be able to answer this. also, the post count may disallow you to check the profiles of other members.. or perhaps its just a glitch in my account.

well there are several examples of this happening these few months. i guess most of these posts come from posting in the Intros and Hellos section (which shouldn't be considered bad) and.. spamming. useful spam counts, and all this spam is eventually going to add up.

don't get me wrong, i'm not asking you to spam. just posts useful posts (giving advice, learning tips etc.) or posts for help (except those for Fishing) and basically posts that others might find useful, or to help continue the discussion going on in a particular thread.

and i do not think that the only reason people want to up their post count is to upload pic from pc. another reason for that is that when you clear that post count, several other forum features open up to that member :)

Can anyone guide mi on how to put pics in the messages that i post?Like those smc banner in many peeps post

tham - March 20, 2005 03:24 PM (GMT)
well you have to first upload it to a website. someone else more experienced here should guide you.

then, when its online, click on "add reply" in the thread, something which everyone knows about hopefully. and above the very space where you are typing there will be a few buttons, like to Bold or Underline text. and right below the "underline button" (which is simply a capital U, underlined) there is another button which says "IMG". so click on that button, and this pop-up will appear requesting you for the URL of the picture you have uploaded beforehand. (once again, you have to know the URL of the picture. i'm not exactly proficient in this, so someone else should reply with more help ^_^ )

and it's done. when you click "add reply" after typing out whatever you wish to post, there'll be the picture there.

I believe that Invision does not resize the picture to fit in the window, or make the image file size smaller, so if you post large pictures then it'll take longer to load.

hope this helps.

ziLin - March 20, 2005 03:54 PM (GMT)
yepyep, invision doesn't resize your stuff. so you gotta resize it yourself.

for the url thing.. you could try.. www.ripway.com

it's free, and you can upload your images there. so after uploading it, they will give you a url, telling you where your image can be found. so yep, that's the url for the image.

so you place that address wherever you need that address. ^_^
