Title: Ibm And Sam Meeting
MagicalPam - March 3, 2005 03:33 AM (GMT)
Hi all,
Some SMC members asked me how to become members of magic club in singapore.
Since it may be interesting to others, I will post the answer here.
If you want to be a member of Magic Club in Singapore, you could come to their meeting first as a guest and after that you could fill in a membership form to become a member.
If ever someone ask why should become a member ?
The magic club give you an opportunity to perform in front of real audience.
There is a stage with a table where you perform and other magicians will seat as audience.
After you perform you can ask them the feedbacks on how you could improve your performance.
Practice is one thing but performing is also necessary to improve your skills.
There are 2 magic clubs in Singapore :
1) IBM ( International Brotherhood of Magician )
Meeting : every 15th of the month in City Bayview Hotel, Bencolen street, at 19.30
If you want to come, you could come on Tuesday, 15 March 2005, 19.30
You could come first as a guest and become member later on by completing their membership form.
Guest fee = 10$ per entrance
If you join, entrance fee = 50$ and annual fee = 90$
After you join you have to pass the test by performing your tricks in front of audience.
The test should be done within 6 months after you join.
Don't worry, the test is not difficult, it is just to make sure that you are a magician, perform some tricks, and have some interest in magic.
We do this in order to avoid some people who just want to come and see and get some secrets.
2) SAM ( Singapore Association of Magician )
Meeting : every last Wednesday of the month in 137 Cecil Street,
Next meeting is Wednesday, 30 March 2005, 19.30
Next meeting will be guest night, so everybody could come and see the performances ( fee = 10$ )
If later on you want to be a member , registration fee is 50$, monthly fee is 10$ ( to be paid until end of the current year )
In SAM there is no mandatory test, but we will encourage you to perform.
Please dont ask me which club is better, I will not have the answer to that question.
I am a member of both, and I feel that I progressed a lot in my performance style since I become member of those 2 clubs.
You may want to choose based on the schedule or meeting venue.
If you want to join or ask me questions, please post here or PM me.
But you have to tell me if you want to join next meeting because I will have to let them know how many guests I will bring :-)
See You
MagicalPam

Magicdow - March 19, 2005 02:31 AM (GMT)
John Tan is from SAM, John Teo is from IBM. I don't think John Teo will reply in sucha manner to you.
Jimagician - March 19, 2005 01:58 PM (GMT)
I agree with Magicdow. I do not think it is John from IBM.
But I am sure the message was very well intended. :)
GordonLi - March 22, 2005 03:12 PM (GMT)
i think both john's are nice ppl.
i joined SAM, so i can tell u there's no age limit.
why wud they turn away young members anyway? its still income for them... :P
LarryDK - March 30, 2005 01:45 PM (GMT)
Wow.. Ya.. I heard of them before, but when i know abt the fee.. I keep of back off alittle.. Still thinking abt it.. I know it is very worth it, but well there is a fee to pay and with no income.. It can be hard.. Still thinking over..
So like the IBM, are there different levels of people in it, i mean like, there are amatures, then there are intermedi, and so on.. Or everyone is consider equal and learn from each other? Hmm.. Make me so excited abt it..
