cos iam guessing that some smc peeps might wanna join in too

GordonLi - March 5, 2005 12:55 PM (GMT)
erm, most likely a group. but i think it'll probably be 2 of us only.

of course, i'll encourage any other ppl who wanna try it out.

Defile - March 5, 2005 12:56 PM (GMT)
ooh ok, that'll be cool..

neo23 - March 5, 2005 01:16 PM (GMT)
hmm tat will be awesome.. keep us updated abt the busking gordie.. ^_^

GordonLi - March 6, 2005 08:22 AM (GMT)
sure.

we are trying to duplicate the magicians performing at buskers festival last yr. have to achieve about the same number of people (>100) and keep their attention, and make sure they give as much ($). one problem is getting a sound system (hopefully can find one by june). next up is just to get a liscence.

this is quite a large project which until now, is still relatively unseen in singapore. i bet >90% of singaporeans have yet to see busking at such a magnitude. even singapore magicians, i suppose, probably have not done magic on the streets for 100+ ppl at a time. so there is a huge possibility for publicity and media attention for free advertisements.

anyway, we'll see how it goes.

btw, i've invited my partner over to SMC, we'll wait when he turns up...

can i check w u guys how many of u know wat is streets performing?as in d real meaning of streets performing?coz if u din manage 2 get d idea rite then most prob u won't even get 20 audience watching, n doesn't mean those who watch will pay, if u all r thinking abt d $ part when performing then i'm sorry 2 tell u tat u won't b able 2 earn a single cent no matter how skillful u r...

i've been performing on d streets various type of talents n actually getting a crowd of 100 is not a problem at all, only if u can understand d true meaning of streets performing...

i'm not here 2 discourage or critisise any1 but if any1 will b doing streets performing, please do think twice...i've seen people disgrace themselves in front of d audience, i used 2 b like tat but after experiencing, i've change a lot...

Multi-talent... maybe you can guide them to do busking. I must agree that busking is really difficult. It is totally different from Street magic. You want to get the maximum effect (in most case... $$$) out of that 30min-1hr you are performing. Hence you would want to gather a big crowd. There are many techniques/psychology involved in getting a crowd. I am not the best person to advise on this... but there are books on this... and you can look at how some buskers do it. (esp. in cities like San Francisco or Melbourne!)

i don't mind guiding them but 1 thing which i 1 every1 2 take note, if there's 2 many street magician, most prob 1 yr later nobody will give any $ anymore...also most prob by them magic will bcome 2 saturated, nobody will 1 2 c magic anymore...

yes i agree with u totally.

anyway, i think the best way to learn is to try it out (of course after much planning). we'll see how it goes...
