Title: Silver Shifter

Ning - September 28, 2004 04:21 AM (GMT)
Just wondering if anyone who does coin magic uses this new trick... check out the pics from murphy's! you actually see it bend like rubber... :o

Silver Shifter(50 Pence)

Silver Shifter is like no other coin device you have ever seen. With it, you can actually bend a coin right in front of your audience's eyes! the coin visibly bends, and never leaves their sight during the bend! Once bent, you immediately drop the coin into their hands for thorough inspection-it's a real halfdollar, and your hands are shown empty front and back! The effect this has on both laymen and magicians alike is truly astonishing! No funny switches No weird palm off’s No pressure No heat No kidding! And, Silver Shifter can be used for much more than just the bending coin routine. This incredible gimmick makes possible whole new variations on productions, vanishes and classic coin routines like Scotch and Soda-the possibilities are truly only limited by your imagination.

sounds like false advertising to me. A switch is almost unavoidable. Only other possibility is some kind of a sh***.
Any videos of it's performance?

Ning - September 28, 2004 07:16 AM (GMT)
hmmm... not that i know of, just happened to chance upon it. maybe do a search on google or yahoo?

makanmonkey - September 28, 2004 11:49 AM (GMT)
From what I gather, (taking the claims of no switch as true) it might have to be a device u carry in ur hands, making use of the principle of leverage (think nut cracker) which in it's rawest form i guess would mean palming a metal bar (with a notch for the coin edges) in each palm... which also makes the trick (in this manner) quite cumbersome. A vid would help.

Not a gimmick to bend the coin. The coin is gimmicked by itself. I have this. Some say its good, some say its crap. I say avoid it. Those who wants it can have it at a good price.

Magicdow - September 28, 2004 02:36 PM (GMT)
I'd like to add that the one I have has never been used. Need to search for it though.

Hello again... gosh this forum is getting addictive... i just saw the video (couldn't access in frm sch just now) yea... can't be my far flung theory... but if im not wrong there was a switch and a thumb palm there... well they did claim "No funny switches" and well, that was quite a regular one if i may say so ;)

pity they dun have it in local currency :(

JamKid - September 28, 2004 05:32 PM (GMT)

Hmmm... magidow, is it inspectable? If it's affordable enough, I may just get it from you for the charity walkaround on oct 2. let me know? thanks...

Magicdow - September 29, 2004 03:18 AM (GMT)
After the switch, it is examinable. Affordable? I dunno, maybe $30?

GordonLi - October 12, 2004 03:46 PM (GMT)
this is soo misleading! it just means the switch is not "funny"...

avoid it like plague. Its obvious to onlookers that you are doing a rubber trick. The only exception is your client is a cond*m- manufacturing company!

exohordon - March 9, 2005 07:20 PM (GMT)
save the money and get the quantum bender.

srysry - March 10, 2005 08:05 AM (GMT)
hmm..i remember it comes in various type of coins for example Morgan dollar or Us quarter. The price is difference for either them,of course i tink it cost around 73.50 sin $ on average. ^_^

AhLiShuFi - April 19, 2005 04:55 PM (GMT)

thaddeus - September 2, 2005 02:25 PM (GMT)
how come it sucks? btw , is the coin a gimmick itself or you will need a gimmick to band it or something?

Not really practical to use.

You'll know if you own it.

AhLiShuFi sold me this gimmick for a trade of a couple of props and some cash, around $50 value I think.

According to him last time, it retails at SGD$90. This is the MOST visual coin bend I've ever witness; till date.

Heres the video.
http://www.murphysmagicsupplies.com/video/...vershifter.html

This is a coin that is really an eye opener, something that I dare to say you're never seen before. However, the handling is quite hard, and it is quite expensive for the gimmick; its actually the idea.

The coin is a classic, it has ALOT of uses, from disappearing and appearing a coin whilst showing both sides of the hands clearly empty; rolling up a coin inside a borrowed bill etc. Ditches can also be made to the coin, as it does not make a single sound no matter what it hits, and ditch it at unexpected places like inside a glass or whatever you can think of in a particular environment.

I've tried a couple of coin bending gimmicks, from Man of Steel to Boa Coin bender etc, but for all 3, including the Silvershifter, the difficulty of handling is high. However, in terms of visual-ness, Silvershifter beats all, just watch the video.

I have practised quite a bit, but still not getting anywhere close. Haha.

Arent that bad like ShiFi said; IMO.

AhLiShuFi - September 10, 2005 05:57 PM (GMT)
haha... the idea is really clever, that xplains the price. but however, i just believe that there are many more wonderful things u can do with coins, rather than bending them. but if u really love bending coins, can always get this. just make sure u do ur research first before getting anything.
