Title: [info] Learn Dribble Easy

[LV] - March 12, 2005 09:24 PM (GMT)
ARE you learning dribbling ?

The card always falls out from your palm and landed on the floor ?

You waste alot of time picking cards and arranging them all face one direction after you fail to catch them on your palm ?

You stop practising after you see your black deck having some white scratches from the stones/dust on the floor/table ?

Here is how I learn my dribbling today and now I got more confident in doing it while I am on the street doing window shopping...

Here my method...

Get a noodle bowl, dribble your deck in it ~ Tat's all...

learn how your cards falls inside and the control the speed and direction it will fall, lastly of cos the heigth of dribbling.

After awhile, u get the feeling of dribbling and you hold the bowl and the "catching" palm and now try to dribble as if u are dribbling on your palm.

It took me nearly 3hrs of dribbling on the bowl and finally got some confidents on dribbling...

your deck will stay on the bowl, remain all facing one direction and dont have to worry it get scratch or damage... lastly, no more back ache from picking the cards on the floor.

I hope my small tweak will help someone out there trying to dribble and hate picking cards on the floor master dribbling 3hours after reading this "bowl-dribbling" method.

Dribble = magic or flourish ?
which section is it in .

anyway dribbling into a noodle bowl is not that bad but i prefer landing it on my palm .

as in over the bed , it will not fall all over the bed ya know.

so yeah thats how i practise but for now , i am practicing annaconda . ^_^

For me, dribbling is definitely easier than springing.

You just need to get the feel and hang of releasing the cards at a suitable height for a maximum dribble.

As Jerry Cestkowski(the Flourishman) said, dribbling is more of a magic move to show the fairness of losing a card in the deck.

After Bone then went to modify its grip and add some height to the dribble, it is now a kickass flourish. The first time I saw him do it, he left me watching in awe.

This isnt a bad method for practicing. But I personally feel that more work on the dribble is required for the hand catching the falling cards than for the hand releasing the cards. So maybe you might wanna practice the release using the bowl method, then the catch later on.

However, I still think that practicing it all at once in the hands is the best. Vary your height with your confidence. If you start off dribbling from a height of 3cm, I dont think you would have a problem with dropping too many cards. I only see people using the bowl if you just started dribbling and already wanna go for metre-long dribbles.. which in itself isnt a good thing to be doing.

So if you really want it high, start from ground zero. A solid foundation will give room for improvement. This applies to anything you learn ;)

Hey, do u all hav the problem of the cards not falling neatly..means the cards are not in a horizontal manner. instead, they fall with the cards in a diagonal manner.. can catch?

Nicholas - March 13, 2005 10:20 AM (GMT)
hmm maybe you can try changing your catching hand grip to a mechenics grip with your pinky at the bottom to block the cards from falling

Yeah, Daryl... Bone's modified technique for the dribble was so punk Jerry changed the description in the 2nd edition of the bible to Bone's method - that's pretty awesome, if you ask me =D

Oh, and about [LV]'s practice tips on the dribble, here's an additional note you might wanna take note of which I came across while using his method - when you're practicing make sure your noodle bowl doesn't contain noodles =/

Hm... Actually, if you cook them the exact right way, you can do metre-long noodle dribbles.

Back on topic, I say that the catching does not matter so much as the TECHNIQUE used to dribble the cards. If you're familiar with "DA grip", you will know whay I mean.

Added note: when doing long-ass dribbles like Bone's Anaconda, I patter about Teh Tarik... go figure :P

i don't think the cards are supposed to fall horizontally... most vids i've seen of pple, they end up almost vertical while they're falling. mine usually go vertical or diagonal at least too. i don't really have a problem catching them all, but they don't really land square, like a spring (i don't think they're supposed to land perfectly square anyway, neither is it possible).

if i'm trying to add height, i practise over my bed. like right before i go to sleep.

I use the M5 system deck to do dribbling. So when it drops on my bed or on the floor,i can use the *****t to pick it up.(this is only for people who knows the M5 system trick.)
