Title: Performance For National Volunteer & Philanthro
Description: Calling all Stage Magicians!!
JasonL - March 23, 2005 09:26 AM (GMT)
Hello there,
The National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre (NVPC) is holding a conference on the 25th May 2005. They are looking for a Stage magic performance for their opening act of about 10-15 mins.
NVPC is a non-profit organisation that aims to promote the spirit of giving across all sectors in the society. The yearly conference is a flagship event, meant as a platform for intellectual discussion and exchange of information amongst stakeholders in the people sector.
The theme is "Reality of Giving". The organisers want the act to be as themed as possible. They are launching a new book on Philantrophy and they want the book to be used or mentioned in the act. Other parts of the act should be themed to include the idea of giving (money or time). So perhaps any money routines should be good.
On a personal note, I think this event is pretty big and even a minister, Dr Balakrishnan (Acting Minister for Community Development, Youth and Sports & Senior Minister of State for Trade and Industry) will be there too. I believe there will be many community heads and charity organisers present so this will give SMC some publicity.
So, I'm calling all stage performers interested in this event. Please put down your name here if you are interested and please provide a description of what you will be performing. An audition will be held when all the entries are in, hopefully in a month's time.
Please volunteer and show your skills for SMC!!!
-Jason

Yes guys... this is a very big community project and if this goes well, there will be more gigs for SMC folks (that's you!) since all the big wigs will be there  Not to mention, those who'd be performing for it will certainly get a big ego boost and a nice addition to your magi CV besides other things *grin*
We've spoken to them and they are very keen to explore this with us. SMC, we really need to act quickly. Folks interested have one week from now to revert here with your name- we'll close this at the end of the month, that's Thursday 31 March.
I think that's a fair amount of time given since we have to get in touch with NVPC soon as well. Remember to practise responsibility - no last min excuses to pull out, etc. as usual.
Count this as another big step forward in your passion of magic fellas!
Let us know soon...
Cheers,
Ning
PS: FYI, Jason is my partner in crime for this one... kudos to him for being efficient in communicating with this org while I'm swamped with work on my end. Well done Jas!
