Title: Hi All Smc Members!

Cryheart - March 25, 2005 04:27 AM (GMT)
Hey! Wow didn't expect so much members ( from 200+ to 340+ ) after the news on "Friday Weekly" ( The chinese newspaper for teens ). Anyway, just want to "hi" to all SMC members.

CLJ - March 25, 2005 04:45 AM (GMT)
Nice going on your little forum/website, dude. Y'know, after reading through some of the stuff on your "Ellusionists" (read:pseudo-exposure) forum, I ain't so sure you're not one of those guys who started from the Friday weekly news thingamajig. I mean, seriously, what's up with your website?

I'd give you a nice, condensed "Dr. Nick: hey, everybody!-Everybody: Hey, Dr. Nick!" kinda reply, but I'm just kinda under the impression that number 1: you really seem to be a guy with the wrong mindset/attitude towards magic, and Number 2: you're infatuated with Ellusionist. Actually, same difference.

I'm not gonna bother typing down any more stuff because I'm kinda sure the other guys would be jumping on this thread soon and the entire thread would turn into the whole perpetual "why-exposure-is-advocated-and-why-I-can't-get-through-saying-the-name-Ellusionists-without-laughing-my-ass-off" argument, and for pretty good reason too. So I'm gonna let all the more uptight people (*ahem*gordCOUGH*ahem*) do all the explaining instead. Not that much has been done yet other than your levitation-exposé, but you can pretty much tell that that's (going to be) the gist of your forum, at least the magic-related section of it. It's the little stuff that counts. I mean, you have ONE article exposing a levitation, and that by itself might not seem like much, but people'll probably know just how you think about magic just from that one article.

Oh yeah, and most of the guys here weren't from the little Friday weekly article anyway. And those that did join at least hold some form of respect for magic. I think you should start doing that too. Pffft. Well, I guess that's what THIS forum's for.

On the topic of which, here's a random quote related to your little Balducci-levitation-exposé on your website:
"If people ask you how David Blaine levitates, tell them he's gay." - David Acer

Oh yeah, to end this off on a more positive note, what's up, Cryheart =D

Aight, later.

C.

Magicdow - March 25, 2005 04:58 AM (GMT)
I agree with CLJ. I can't believe you tip Balducci levitation in your forum. You even have a public magic trick section whereby you reveal the workings of some effects. You are either new in magic or don't care about secrets being revealed.

Cryheart - March 25, 2005 05:01 AM (GMT)
lol..didn't expect you to write so much, mean magic enthusiasists is all about discussion of magic and not exposure? <_<

alright the truth..I plan to release SOME tricks in my forum so that i could get some members. After that, I would close and delete all topics that TEACHES GUESTS magic tricks, in simpler words, an advertising skill.

Honestly, when i first saw the article on Friday weekly, the first website I went is http://www.singaporemagiccircle.com right after i went straight home. I didn't realise that this was actually a MAGIC DISCUSSION forum. I was shocked!

Alright, the name of my forum. I chose that name because..

1. It's a nice name ( honestly )
2. I am a big fan of them ( so what? does that mean I cannot setup a fan site for them )

lol..think it over..* no harm *

Read "MAGIC DISCUSSION" not magic exposure.

Yeah right. reveal YOUR own effects not others that don't belong to you.

Cryheart - March 25, 2005 05:07 AM (GMT)
Omg..I'm not going to talk to you guys anymore.

Magicdow - March 25, 2005 05:10 AM (GMT)
Thanks.

Kevin - March 25, 2005 06:04 AM (GMT)
Hehe... scared him away, did ya guys? :D

Shit happens... I know your intentions aren't evil, Cryheart, but do take it from the more experienced members, ala Magicdow and Chris that stuff like this is just a no-no. We don't hate you, we just feel that what you're doing isn't the best way for magic to grow. Sure, your definition of Magic Discussion and Magic Exposure might fall under the same category, but if you'd look a little further, you'd see that they are worlds apart in theory. We talk about more of the presentation of magic than the methods, which is an about 70% : 30% ratio.

I mean, I can relate to your situation, since I was once in your shoes, a big ellusionist fan and seeking free magic all the time. But I grew past that, and looking back, I realised what a dick I was when I was at your stage. I'm not saying that you're a dick, of course, but it's just that there's more to magic than learning secrets and talking on online forums and gaining a rep for yourself. Magic should be done for real people, and if you do it well- thumbs up.

I hope you're not gonna runaway and CRY your HEART out just because of words on a forum, bro. Think about it: there must be a reason why these things were said, so maybe a little self-evaluation would be appropriate. Like I said before, these guys KNOW what they're saying, and merely trying to steer you away from the over-commericialized path.

Welcome... to the real wo- I mean, SMC ;)

Regarding the comments CLJ has made, he actually just states that your site contain exposure and so on. He didn't made any rude remarks, therefore i don't see the reason for you to make a fuss and spam the whole of SMC, if you want. Be like a man and take it privately and confront CLJ why did he made such a remark.

Regarding Exposure, we had to give you the warning level due to spamming activities, it's just a warning routine which all members has to go through. Regarding ellusionist, CLJ was just passing it off as a remark or a joke. I don't see the reason for you to really flare up, if you just flare up because of this issue. I think there isn't a need for you to do so.

If you think this is a su*ky forum, why join. We didn't point a knife or gun at you and to ask you to join us, so if you don't like it. Leave the forum in peace, make a good image of yourself leaving, rather then showing people that you can't behave like a grown up.

If you aren't happy about any thing, PM me and i will see what can i do, instead of saying this is a su*ky forum. Which i think the forum didn't actually offend you ?

Aloy - March 27, 2005 04:51 PM (GMT)
Spam us with porn and vulgarities did you? :)

Here's a 10,000 day ban. :)
Have fun. :)
