hey guys.. i've been wondering.. you know how after you use your cards for some time, and they start to get soft and dirty around the edges..?
what do u do with them..?
i can only think of using them for practising torn and restored routines.. if im gonna throw them away, i might as well use them as fodder for my T&R routines right...
any other ideas...? im stocking up on old decks and don't know what to do with them....

how about card manipulation??
its easier to learn or practice it with 'broken down cards', in this case old n soft.

You could stick them together in the shape of a fan. Then you could balance it on your pinkie finger, nose, tongue etc. Spin the fan, then film it.
And Voila! You've become a master of fans.. B)
But seriously, you could just do this. Ribbon spread a deck of old cards (or lay them out separately). Then have a real fan or air conditioner blow on them overnight. The soft edges will start to harden a little. Alternatively, you could compress EACH card individually under a heavy object (eg. dictionary). I've done that to one of my old decks. The turnout happens to be quite good (but super time consuming). <_<
Lastly, i did this when i was younger. I made an old deck into a stripper. :g:

Old cards. Throw them against a wall, vent anger. Effective. Then slowly pick up the cards. Then repeat again.
Or I'll light them all up with zippo! Inferno!
Or on a more sensible side, I'll do TnR practise with them.

karen and i both have a ton of "old cards" that we use to practise card throwing. in fact, in her house there are some styrofoam blocks set up to look a lot like a set speakers, and the goal is to try and get the cards to stick into the styrofoam (which she has done). although, it's not really that easy after the styrofoam is a bit beat up, so you end up really angry and frustrated at not being able to get the cards in
card throwing is a little addicting at first, and the excessive throws caused me a lot of pain in my right arm that first day... but then i learned to use my wrist a little more. you might think card throwing is useless, but it would be kind of cool to be able to cut fruit from far away. it really is just sorta idly fun if you have nothing to do... maybe it would be cool to use in a trick, like find the selected card or whatnot and then throw it across the room and reveal it sticking in an apple.
some other thing about refreshing decks that found online was to faro half up half down, stick in the box, rubber band the box tigthly and refrigerate for 24 hours. i did it with a deck (but i accidentally left it in for 3 days bc i went out of town) and they were really springy afterwards.
