Title: Bertram Change
Description: qn regarding it...

JirQUEST - March 27, 2005 06:58 AM (GMT)
i was wondering... would it be better if the card that u wanted to change was slanted towards the side a little, instead of facing down at a 45deg angle? i find it hard to do when it is facing downwards...

GordonLi - March 27, 2005 07:37 AM (GMT)
yes, thats how i do it.

anyway, its unnatural to hold the deck in the first way, the 2nd way is natural.

(be careful of exposure on this thread...)

JirQUEST - March 27, 2005 10:53 AM (GMT)
ah and i thought i might be wrong. how long did u guys take to perfect this? probably one of the hardest moves i ever learnt!

GordonLi - March 27, 2005 12:31 PM (GMT)
yes, its hard to perfect it. the way its usually done, its pure exposure.

Well, yea, the technical move itself isnt very tough, but the performance aspect of it is harder, you need to get a feel for the line of sight for your audiences. But, this change, while it is visual, its rather impractical.

no, the technical move is tough to perfect, in order not to let ppl catch a glimpse of the 1st card during the move. (jay sankey and brad christian for example does it so blatantly, ppl smart enough can guess how its done)

surprisingly, this sleight has angles which are quite well covered.

and regarding impracticality, i predict others will come and slaughter on this point, on behalf of me. :P

Alexander - March 27, 2005 02:20 PM (GMT)
Well, yea, thats why you have to know your angles.

Well, it isnt that practical to me as you can find other substitues for it.
The good thing about this change is that you are not ANYWHERE close to the deck, so its hard to reconstruct.

For bertram, the only thing you need to take note is the Angle. Other than that, it's perfect.

JirQUEST - March 28, 2005 08:46 AM (GMT)
well after practising it for one full day... i loved it absolutely. tricked my own eye... i cant exactly say it's practical... but it shocks pple for sure :D

it's the effect we want, no? :P
