remember to get the spec to sign the sweetener pack...
i think it's stronger than the t&r card routine, as u can tear it open, pour the content out, n reseal everything is a sec or less... just the the cleaning up is a bit uncomfortable lah...

I like doing Fusion by Sean Fields, but lately I stopped doing them, because of the awe and wonder I get from seeing them performed by Huron: His T&Rs kick ass

illusionist - October 6, 2004 02:36 PM (GMT)
Since this is all on torn and restore just wanted to ask if Ripped & Restored DVD is good and worth to purchase?

Huron - October 7, 2004 06:26 PM (GMT)
Ripped and Restored is a pretty good effect! It looks pretty neat but if you want something that looks way sicker with a much easier and cleaner handling... get Torn by Daniel Garcia!! I love it.

Anyone seen intercessor - a torn & restore card tricks by Penguin. The gimmick is simple and easy to handle even self made. Good for T&R routine.

CLJ - October 11, 2004 06:45 AM (GMT)
Ripped and Repaired by Dave Forrest caught my eye a long time ago. :D I still perform Torched the most though.

exohordon - October 31, 2004 03:15 PM (GMT)
The best T&R effect i seen is called Seamless
Here's a link : http://magicbywest.tripod.com/seamless.wmv

Nothing comes close so far.

BuaYa - November 2, 2004 03:25 AM (GMT)
Oh ho ho~ But you haven't seen Making Ends Meet! Oh ho ho ho!

Mystical2004 - November 2, 2004 06:18 AM (GMT)
well... resurrexion aint that bad... but torched and restored is quite visual... the card suddenly unfold and untorn

exohordon - November 2, 2004 07:32 AM (GMT)
Torched and restore is too plain obvious in my opinion.
Going into pocket to take the lighter that is.
Making ends meet?
Never heard of it
Any links?
Gimmicked or ungimmicked?
To me Seamless's handling is veri sweet showing the signature of the torn card.
Switch is veri clean too.

Huron - November 4, 2004 08:49 AM (GMT)
Haha the day he realises FitH has no switch...

Hm. Then I wonder how I've managed to get past that part so many times whenever I perform Torched... yes, by the way, I perform Torched a lot. The retrieving of the lighter is perfect motivation, and it may be obvious to you as a magician, but to a layman? hell no! :D

Making Ends Meet is Huron's mismatch piece by piece T&R... nothing comes close to it (other than his other T &Rs). It's so easy, ingenious and visual. I guess I was the first person H showed it to and I could have fainted after seeing it. Heh. :P

rongzai - December 21, 2004 10:49 AM (GMT)
hi guys wanna ask if torn and restored sugar packets is using same concept as cards torn and restored? pls enlighten me
thanks

Kevin - December 21, 2004 02:18 PM (GMT)
It depends on what kind of T&R you're drawing similarities to, that is. Some card T&Rs work the same way as sugar packet T&Rs, but in the whole, I'd say nay. Two totally different thangs.

-Kev

SeNgHoE - December 22, 2004 04:59 PM (GMT)
I think they are totally different from the T n R s i noe..

yujie - December 23, 2004 02:45 AM (GMT)
get daniel garica's torn video.....or jc wagner's one piece at a time video.....both are managable. or if you want something more simple but still effective, u can try torched n restored, i think penguin have it.....or if u live in d west, i can teach u torched n restored...... :D

Kevin - December 23, 2004 03:46 AM (GMT)
Bump that. Just wait for Huron's FitH DVD. Almost a dozen new T&R concepts and effects are loaded into that disk, with many bonuses and a short film accompanying it. Value for money for value :D

Alexander - March 18, 2005 01:46 PM (GMT)
Hahaha. I know this isnt a TnR effect, but color fusion, it rocks man!

Theres this thing about some TnR effect, like Paul Harris' Ultimate ripoff. I mean, if a magician can restore 3 pieces of a card, why doesnt he restore the last piece (the 'reciept') and give it to the spectator?
Thats like the only thing that stops me from performing that effect.

GordonLi - March 18, 2005 03:17 PM (GMT)
well, u shud see how tommy wonder works around that problem and turns it into a plus.

hard to explain now in words... go figure! :)

Alexander - March 18, 2005 04:16 PM (GMT)
Nah... i'm not that brillant to go figure it out myself. WHere can i find resources to what u're refereing to?

GordonLi - March 19, 2005 01:45 AM (GMT)
its available in tommy wonder's old video (yes vid, not dvd). he takes much of his lecture material from that video.

Moondust - March 19, 2005 11:01 AM (GMT)
I guess there's a lot of debate about which TnR is good and why some of the concepts that came out are too cumbersome to do.

Put it this way: If you don't want to spend time to prep beforehand or practice tough sleights, there will be certain limitations to how powerful your TnR effect will be.

For me, I'm a huge fan of Torn Asunder. David Copperfield performed this on one of his TV specials. Unfortunately, it is not a marketed effect and you can't buy this anywhere.

After looking at instructional materials for Resurexxion, Reparation, Fusion and Unripped, I must say that Unripped offers the closest alternative to Torn Asunder. Those of you who have Unripped, watch the video carefully and Gared Crawford will teach you methods of recycling the gaff so that you won't have to go to shitloads of preparation again. If you like Seamless (which is also not marketed at this point of time), Unripped actually has many coincidental handling similarities to it.

"Ironing" out the creases at the end is a real pain because of the intricacies of the gimmicks required. The gimmicks that need to be worn kind of reminds me of how Tommy Wonder looks like when he takes off his jacket during the lecture, but then again, they are there for the purpose of heightening the effect. Take your pick.

And when da hell is Huron gonna release his DVD?!?! I'm gonna be carrying my grandchildren by then!
