Title: Does Magic Affect Your Sex Appeal?
30210162 - March 29, 2005 06:25 PM (GMT)
Remember how Jay Sankey came out with Firestarters? Just the very concept of such a DVD sent alarm-bells ringing.
Are Magician's all lonely, sex-deprived and nerdy?
Do we have to look like David Copperfield to date supermodels? Do we need to dress up like Chriss Angel to get groupies?
What about female magicians? When will we see an female magician that is revered as a sex symbol?
Comments?

Huh? What you talking about? We ALREADY have?

Thanks to Huron, I now know that performing magic and wooing the opposite sex are two different things altogether. Sure, they can be incorporated into each other from time to time with maximum effect, but one does not equal the other. And plus, if your girl/guy loves you just for your magic and not you for you, then... that really, really sucks.
Till now, I still haven't found anyone special... but boy, do my cards sure keep me busy! :D

Stick with the cards. Once your fingers are seduced by the opposite sex, they may never function like now again...

Obviously, no one has heard of Erik von Markovik.

Couldn't you post all three posts under one post? UGH! Don't make me raise-rise your warning value...

Kinda the reverse for me.. My gf acts as my lookout and checker. If i wanna know if a trick will hit hard, i just show to effect to her first, and just see her reactions. Then i'l decide whether to show it to others.
And my girlfriend likes to see me screw up when i perform for others, which rarely happens (thankfully). But when it DOES happen, it becomes a real big hoo-ha. But she loves me all the same.
And, girlfriend = magic assistant. ;)
Btw, to anyone out there: try showing really short and simple magic to your in-laws/ future in-laws. Works wonders. ^_^

Hey guys, I just noticed... when this post is at the top of the forum list, on the main page, the word "appeal" is cut off, leaving
"Does Magic Affect Your Sex?"

Hmmm.. I think its a more appropriate (and rather interesting) title to boot! :!!:
Huron - March 30, 2005 04:28 PM (GMT)
Haha... magic is a great ice breaker, although I don't use it as one anymore. Why? Because you don't want people coming to talk to you saying "Hey show me another trick!".
Better make your performances damn super exclusive so people talk about it, more beg for it, and people love you more for your personality, NOT your magic.
Break the ice with your perrsonality, and they will you remember you for that, because first impressions last the longest. Sure, being known as a magician is awesome, but it's better as that 'extra talent' to a status.
"He's the magician who's a super nice guy!"
"He's the magician who does super nice tricks!"
Go figure.
Does magic affect our sex appeal? Hell no.
But I quote Life! newspaper, a woman who dumped Blaine.
"He wasn't so magical in bed".
OOoh nasty.
You don't have to be rich and look like copperfield to get a chick. It'll help, but if you're gonna be a common princess-worshipper wuss who is all "How's-your-day-What's-your-favourite-colour-Can-I-carry-your bad-for-you?", looks become redundant after a while.
Attraction isn't formed through evaluation.
It's not "He has nice eyes so I like him."
It's "He doesn't have that nice eyes, but I still wanna look at him for some stupid reason."
Attraction is an emotion, not a decision.

I believe that's not a threat but just a friendly reminder, you can actually compile all your 3 post together.
Kevin - March 31, 2005 03:15 AM (GMT)
Hehe... a pity about DAVID blaine's girl's DEcision to leave him eh, Huron?

exohordon - March 31, 2005 06:50 AM (GMT)
At 1st glance at the main page I thought the topic was
"Does Magic Affect Your Sex Life?"
Cos the word appeal could not be displayed

Magic in bed.....I remember reading a post somewhere many years ago about using a TT and pulling a coin or a silk from "her area"........ :D
Yup, both our posts are going to do a vanishing act :D
Magic is definitely an excellent ice breaker, and for some reason whenever I perform for guys they ALWAYS ALWAYS say "Hey teach me leh, you always show girls right. I also want."
It makes it very easy to meet people, but I don't want it becoming a crutch. I don't want to condition myself to NOT be able to meet people WITHOUT magic. I can do so quite well now, so it's kind of a balancing act to not depend so much on it.

I agree with Ning. Using a TT like that is definitely not the right approach.
Obviously a Finger T would be a much better choice and much more relevant. :ph43r:

Kevin - April 5, 2005 01:42 PM (GMT)
Aw come on, why didn't anybody reccomend the mouth coils? Wouldn't those be more fun than just one silk? You can pull a freaking NON-STOP stream of colored ribbons outta her.
On a lighter topic, "If you wanna make an owl, you gotta lay an egg"- Fight Club, quoted by Huron, misinterpreted by Kevin.
