Title: Jazz Aces
Description: Magic Video

Daryl - April 2, 2005 05:14 PM (GMT)
Hi guys,

I'm quite disappointed when I realised today that people think im just flourish-mad. Honestly, I am very passionate about magic too, its just that I have this thing performing for magicians. I do magic to instill wonder, and its not as easy with magicians, if you know what i mean.

(Im not gonna start a if-ur-a-good-magician-youd-fool-other-magicians-too debate, so please hear me out)

Just wanna show you guys a Jazz aces idea which I came up with, and I hope it would entertain you.

Daryl - April 3, 2005 07:11 AM (GMT)

neo23 - April 3, 2005 07:57 AM (GMT)
very nice .. abit gimmicked yes?.. great idea tho.. esp the first reveal 4 cards part.. haha.. keep up the awesome thang! :D

LarryDK - April 3, 2005 01:22 PM (GMT)
Nah.. I doubt it was gimmicked.. It is possible... The way u show the cards are important.. Unless gimmick = to the black cards? Haha!!

There are alot of similar videos around.. But his is nice.. The idea is good..

isn't asking if it's gimmicked considered exposure?

anyway I like your variation of the effect, Daryl. Even though this variation of yours and the original effect is the same in a layman point of view, I feel that it's very inspiring to magicians like me :)

Thanks for this video. It may very well force me to buy a video camera :P

Nice one, Daryl!

Done in a very graceful manner. :!!:

Daryl - April 3, 2005 02:46 PM (GMT)
thanks for the comments and pointers folks..

stop guessing if its gimmicked or not and just appreciate/despise it. burgh.. no one learns.

Wow! I was quite astonished. call me a n00b, but the only Jazz Aces I know is quite different.

The music gives the clip a very peaceful, mystical and yet magical feeling. what is the name of the music used? just goes to show that your editing skills are indeed very pro.. I doubt the effect will feel the same with another piece of music ^_^

handling wise, it is pretty flawless from my point of view.

keep up the great work!

Barney - April 3, 2005 05:37 PM (GMT)
It's super difficult to think-layman at times. This is one of those times. I just realised some things that make u look real pro-istic.

1) Your choice of music.

2) Your smooth sleights (i can figure out how its done. I have all that is needed, but i just can't get the flow thing going ya know?)

3) That chain (or watch) that you have on your left wrist (for this vid and your black and white vid). Makes you look real good. Kinda like a trademark, i guess? :)

I'm now trying hard to think simple.

*thinking*

Ok. NOW i'm going 'wow'. ^_^

Daryl - April 3, 2005 06:17 PM (GMT)
Thanks Barney,

its ok if you know how its done, its just that the mood is killed when folks discuss about the props i use and stuff in the very same thread i post the video for people to see and enjoy.

It wasnt the best video, but its an idea of mine that i was willing to share with you people.

About the Chain, I guess its pretty much in most of my videos now, and will continue to be ;)

Barney - April 3, 2005 06:39 PM (GMT)
Yeah.. You're right. It's so sad when sometimes the people i perform magic for, are not only burning my hands, but are also having a debate later on how i did the effect.. :( they go, "I know got something one! U wait! Later i tell you, and you tell me whether i correct or not!"

Sad man. Magic becomes more of a guessing game.

They cannot guess how i did it, but that look on their faces.. HAIZ.. :( everything is correct. Except their mentality.

Though i may know someone else's trick, i choose to just shut up and enjoy. Anyway, once again, good job on the vid! Do continue to make more enjoyable vids in the future! :D

Btw, maybe shooting the vid from a top view would have been better? Dunno man.

LarryDK - April 4, 2005 06:59 AM (GMT)
Haha.. Ya.. Quite true.. I have tons of frenz - non magician - that they like to expose.. Oh great.. I shouldnt have shown them in the past.. When i juz started magic like 1 month? And its sad when i display magic and they start to talk crap.. Well.. Sooner or later.. I hope something can wash their brain..

Anyway.. i think it is okie to know how the thing is done.. And its good sometime.. Cause u can discuss with the person personally.. and tell him which part is good, which part is subjected to expose sometime.. but not so openly.. Try PM or face to face.. I think thats how to improve.. Hehe..

I also need someone to tell me where to improve.. Dun have any other magician around to help me.. So sad.. I stuck with so many things and i dun know whether i am correct wif it anot.. That i dun know to really continue practise..

Just to clear things up a bit, this vid is NOT a recent one, and I was sent it from Daryl about sometime early-late last year. You can bet your ass he's gotten much better (not that the video sucked... oops! Pink Elephant!), and has more ideas where this came from, like the oil and water routine I'm not supposed to talk about. (Pink Elephant #2!!)

And because I haven't commented already,

Change "Thread" to "Video" :D

That was really really good. It looks cleaner than the original version. :D

wow.... very nicely done.... good vid

Huron - April 6, 2005 11:31 AM (GMT)
Daryl's magic skills are WHAM BAM INSANE!!!
His DLs are extremely deceptive and his handling of them are so super natural. His snap deal is WOW as well. Haha... you haven't seen his magic if you think he's just a freaking good flourisher.

Awesome video Daryl, I enjoyed it, but you've yet to show them your version of the Oil and Water plot. Fooled me really badly.

Aloy - April 6, 2005 11:42 AM (GMT)
I like very much :):) Very nice...

Are the variations your own Daryl? If they are I think they are very creative indeed, and obviously a lot of thought has been given to them. Definitely adds a lot of colour to the Jazz Ace routine, bravo! Although a layman might not notice the difference.
The sleights are all very well executed and smooth. Very nice :)

BuaYa - April 6, 2005 11:43 AM (GMT)
WOHOO! Da Huron said that you FOOLED him! FOOLED!!! OMG! I like the ideas used on this video.

Daren - April 8, 2005 01:00 PM (GMT)
