Is there a way to upload our personal avatars or do we have to host it on a site before we can do that?

If I am not wrong you can upload it through your com no need to host it lol :D

Avatar uploading is only available for Regular Forumite, SMC Members, and mods, because of the limited space we have on the server.
You can also host it somewhere else and link it from your "My Controls"
