Title: Luke Jermay
Description: heard of him?

StrykerZ - April 21, 2005 08:45 AM (GMT)
His material seems very good. He has three books out now, first one is 7 deceptions(DVD version available a.k.a SkullDuggery) second one is Building Blocks third one is The Coral Fang. His stuff is mainly based on NLP, using suggestion techniques to achieve great effects.

heres a review of building blocks:

He has some new material coming or so I heard one of them is Room 101 here is a description of it from alakazam.co.uk.

ROOM 101 - Luke Jermay
From the devious mind of Luke Jermay comes a refreshingly direct mental magic performance piece that leaves audiences stunned.

The performer places a blue-backed 'prediction' card into his pocket. A spectator fairly selects a card from a red deck and decides on ANY word to write across the face of the card. This card is placed face-up on the table. The performer removes his 'prediction' card and not only does the card match, SO DOES THE WORD, which is written in a different colour!

Instantly repeatable with a different card and a different word, and remember, it can be ANY WORD in ANY LANGUAGE!

No carbon, chemicals or other time-consuming preparation. In fact ROOM 101 resets instantly!

This is more of the same brilliant thinking which has earned Jermay his reputation as a truly original creator and performer. Includes everything needed to perform ROOM 101 straight away.

Luke Jermay is also one of the major consultants for Derren Brown's TV specials and stage performances. Of course his stuff will not work every time. And of course not everyone will be susceptible to these effects. But nevertheless its very interesting info. I think it should be a good read. Anyone out there has his stuff care to share some info regarding his material?

i doubt there are much video previews if any. He seems to be quite low profile for quite a long time now.

7 Deceptions kicks ass! I really like that concept of causing the spectator's palm lines to swirl... excellent NLP in action.

Looks like I'ma have to dig up that book again and browse through it once more ;)

Luke Jermay's effects rely heavily on the use of suggestion.

if you can pull them off with enough charm and charisma.. you're good. otherwise, it wouldn't be very advisable to learn his effects. I must note that his effects are very VERY strong though.

yeah, Derren Brown and Luke Jermay seem to be quite similar in most aspects.

Yeah? I heard some horrid stuff abt the palm lines thingie. Then again, some people will have you believe that man never landed on the moon.

I have to say i'm a skeptic thou. Even with NLP, the person must in a semi trance state or just dropped some acid to see such drastic illusions. Would really love to try it for myself.

yea, the effect is frm 7 deceptions. i recommend getting building blocks first then 7 deceptions, as building block teaches the theory tht luke uses in his books, therefore will be clearer when reading 7decptions.

Its been a while since this topic was discussed and since then his DVD Skullduggery has been released.

Has anyone tried out any of his effects from Building Blocks or 7 deceptions yet?

I've recently tried RGM recently. The effect was supposedly the removal of a spectator's memory of a selected card. It didnt work quite as well for me..my spec stuttered for a few moments ( i thought i has succeeded) and proceeded to name the card. For those of you who know the secret, there is a back-up in place, so that kinda saved it for me. But it didnt go quite as well as I would liked it to have.

Maybe it didnt work as well as my spec was also a magician...maybe it was because my presentation wasn't as strong as it could have been.

would like to hear if anyone else has any success or failure stories with Jermay's effects.

ZzaG - November 9, 2005 09:59 AM (GMT)
definitely because your spectator is a magician. May also be because of your presentation.

i think it's both though haha.

He's a magician and magicians are more familiar with cards so they tend to remember cards better. So yeah...

and RGM is not easy to perform.
