Title: Name For A Trick
Description: Pls kindly provide some suggestions

HarapanOng - April 24, 2005 02:56 PM (GMT)
hey all magicians

I recently had this idea of doing this trick involving the 4 kings. Description are as follows:

You shuffle the deck, while talking about the difference between skills and magic. You say you will produce, say the 4 kings with SKILL. Which you do. (Involves stuff like Shapeshifters, Hot Shot Cuts, Using 2 kings to trap th 3rd king and pulling cards from midair and etc)

Very flashy moves here and there, and thus making their eyes pop. A

And after hot-shot-cutting the last king with 3 kings produced earlier face down on the table, you hold the last king and say if you use magic, the effect would be MUCH better. U take the last king still in ur hand and wave it over th 3 face down kings. They can flip it over themselves - its 3 aces! But of course, you realise the 4th ace is missing... so u turn over the card in ur hand... it is the 4TH ACE.

What name should I give it? Hope it is clear.

hmmm maybe you could name it Beyond Skill, Beyond Magic. sumthing like that. or perhaps Four to 4! i dunno. lol i think the others will give more useful input lol.

Hmm... How about "Circus Kings" ?

Daryl - April 24, 2005 04:01 PM (GMT)

Y.T.B.N trick

I dunno, P3... there are a few tricks with this kind of effect already. One of them is David Acer's "repeat offender", but your version is a tad bit flashier ;)

The Doming Aces (Dont really know whether "Doming" is spell like tat?)

Before hand, you mentioned about using skills and magic to find 4 of a kind, like the 4 kings. Right? Then you used SKILLS to get the 4 kings. Then you mentioned that you will use magic instead of skills. Then you again mentioned that the deck you are holding is a magic funny deck, that the aces like to pop up to the top no matter how you shuffle. (By mentioning all this, use the 4th card you have and slowly turn over each aces) And the spec will wait and see the last Ace, at your hand, since that this the last king you shown. But you mentioned, "you know what, the last ace actually also takes over the king that is on my hand" While turning over the last card and flicking it.

Well, thats my point of view for your trick. My 2 cent thoughts.

Hope you like it.

name it the AK shot.....

M.A.D. - April 25, 2005 08:14 AM (GMT)
you may like call it the Replacement Ace's B)

CLJ - April 25, 2005 09:05 AM (GMT)
Meh... like Kev said, this is almost completely similar to David Acer's Repeat Offender from his Open Travellers video/Random Acts of Magic book, except that your productions of the kings at the beginning may be flashier than Acer's. There're a lot of other effects out there that go along the same lines of this plot. Props to ya for independently thinking up the whole deal though =D

AhLiShuFi - April 29, 2005 08:02 AM (GMT)
how abt "flashy kings"? or mayb... "multiple kicker" or "multiple WOWS!"

oh yarh... how abt "WTH?!" ... (What the heck?!) i think that's wat those laymen would probably shout out after the last phase of the trick.

trickster - April 29, 2005 10:08 AM (GMT)
how about "changing kings"?(i dont know.... lame?
-just my 2 cents worth of though... ^_^

Blackwing - May 2, 2005 11:35 AM (GMT)
I think if you invented the trick, then you should be the one naming it. Seriously naming a trick is like credits at the end of a show. Hmm if you really need a name how about ' vision of tomorrow ' or ' two quadruplets ' ? Lame names but I dunno, its your choice.

kryptikalism - May 2, 2005 01:56 PM (GMT)
Apologies for being such a wet blanket, but is it really important that you need a name for this effect? Have you tried it out for laymen and magicians? Have you done research on it to see if someone else already came up with it? Have you revised it after each performance?

These are more important questions for you to answer yourself.

BuaYa - May 3, 2005 06:09 AM (GMT)
FARID IS SO MEANNNNN!

HarapanOng - May 4, 2005 03:33 PM (GMT)
*sob sob sob* i feel so sad

hey guys i am a beginner, only started like in 2001. Please dont kill my creativity. Apparenly "repeated Offender" is similar to my trick, but... heck with it. (haha)

LarryDK - May 4, 2005 04:25 PM (GMT)
Its okie not to name your trick. No one will really bother about it when u do it as a routine. And if it is good, u get response. If it is not, you wont get response. Thats was simply magic are out for.

extremer - May 5, 2005 01:21 AM (GMT)
It wise to name it your own since it ur creativity. Why ask people to help you name? Give a name you think it most suits. This way u will feel more proud with it.

GordonLi - May 5, 2005 04:41 AM (GMT)
i agree, if i do come up with something, i would like to name it myself.

completes the orginality and feel of the entire effect.

<<Magic>> - May 15, 2005 06:35 AM (GMT)
Calling the Aces maybe....or Calling the Kings...
Maybe...Transpor'Ace'tion

I believe it's the other way round :D

But frankly, you should listen to the others and try to come up with a name yourself. I mean, if you had a kid, would you go up to a bunch of strangers and ask them what you should name him? Heavens knows if he'll be named "!xobile"

But hey, naming an effect isn't as much an issue as entertaining the layfolk. If it works for them, then cool. If not, then... back to the drawing board!
