here's a really quick review.

the teaching is good, no doubt. some angle problems for a few sleights, nothing that is totally devastating or anything. however, his tone got to me about halfway into my first dvd. mind you, I only got this dvd a few months after I started learning, and I found some of the stuff really basic. thus, I fell asleep. I believe someone like him should make the teaching more interesting, rather than using the same monotonous tone throughout the video.

but, if you are starting out, this is some good stuff. note that this dvd is nowhere near being exhaustive. it covers the basics quite well, but basics can be learnt from books just as effectively (in my case) at about 1/4 the price.

for some really weird reason, he expects the person to be pretty experienced with cards. one of the controls he teaches utlizes a Pressure Fan (he does not teach it), something only a few people I know can do (well). if this is for the beginner, what on earth was he thinking when he asked the viewer to do a pressure fan? maybe he was thinking of a world where everyone mastered a sleight when they first try it out.

the music is really clingy. one of those charlie-chaplin sortof music tracks played during transitions, with all those uber-cool sound effects that were the signature of Star Trek. pretty good production quality here.

he uses bee cards for most of the 8 volumes. in particular, blue backed bee cards. after watching the video without a deck in hand I suddenly realised how bright and vibrant the red on my bike deck was. just an irrelevant point I wanted to mention :P

well, the whole concept of "SUPERPRACTICE" as he puts it is really good. something michael ammar apparently came up with (as in his own dvds). probably something that De'vo recognised was powerful, and modified a little and said was his own. not that it is bad, just saying that the idea might not have been entirely his own. good in helping anyone master just about any sleight in the minimum time possible.

</end short review>

According to my understanding, this DVD set includes sleights but not routine.

Thus, if you want to know sleights and want to know how it can be applied, maybe you would like to consider Card College - highly recommended by many

This tape offers only sleights and not routines. The word encyclopaedia says it all. Can get really bored if what you wanna learn is sleights that work in routines. This tape is basically for knowledge of sleights in my opinion.

Card college has sleights and routines that uses them. Might be good if you want creative routines to go with the sleights you just learned.

But as it suggested, if you really wanted basic sleights... it's no a bad choice....

any totally agreed, he is expecting everyone to be an experts....

BTW.... do anyone knows how to do the pressure fan????

I have quite some problem with that too.....now i can only do a pressure fan without really pressing onto the cards i just uses my thumb pressure.... so annoying :angry:
