Well, this reminds me of a Derren Brown's effect, Zamiel's Rose. Its a card effect but it ends with a surprising petals falling.
I was also thinking of the classic floating paper rose into a real rose. B)

Napkin Rose By Michael Mode. Rose Napkin are now available in yellow, pink (Swweett :wub: ) and red (yucks!)
Rose Magic by Monty Its a DVD on production of Roses. Teaches many different types and also some on vanishes. But i don't really like this guy. People who washed his vhs, monty on handwashing will know what i mean :P
Floating Rose by Kevin James. This is something like what David Copperfield Performed where the floating rose becomes a real rose in the end.
Hmm... thats about all i know about flower stuff that can be done close up. Notice its all to do with Roses :g:

What I understand for Floating Rose is that it may be tricky for performing it in close up situation, because a lot setup is required, and a lot of conditions need to be present
