Hmmm... Personally I think the presentation of the effect is... How should i say this, weird. Thats putting it nicely. I mean. People holding straws walking around don't exactly strike to the laymen as cool... Unless... The effect can be done impromptu. Then I'll take a closer look...

most places have straws... it can be done with macdonald's straw or coffeebean..

i just checked out the demo.. somehow, the effect wasn't that convincing to me. hmmm... or am i just being picky?

I think when most ppl watch the demo over at penguin, Our eyes would tend to stray to somewhere else. (Think u guys know wat i mean)
Anway that's a stolen old trick penguin ripped off from a book. Forgot the name though. Not worth paying that much.

CLJ - October 17, 2004 12:41 PM (GMT)
(I think I'll repeat this one more time) Lee Asher himself said at the Cafe that Sizzle is a blatant rip-off of David Harkey's Spotweld from his book Simply Harkey. So educate yourselves, and get the original book, and not a cheap rip-off. ;) ;) ;)

The old macdonalds straws (plain red ones) would have been fine but recently they have those with red n yellow stripes... still a pretty nice trick at pubs maybe, or kids but no magician fooler... hahaha

exohordon... heheh yah i noe wat u mean... the cameraman also quite buaya.

hope this is not exposure (excuse the pun)... i think i noe how it's done... so i asked penguinmagic a question and i quote:

Hi must the straw be wrapped? coz wrapped straws are not comon where i live

Chris.

Dear Chris,

Yes, the straw in the Sizzle effect needs to be wrapped.

If you have any more questions, please contact us.

Best,

Yup... Ren screwed it up bad over brunch today, so that explains the new picture of his T-shirt on fire B)

The price to pay for a bad trick... *evil laugh* Just kidding... No offence Ren! LOL...

wah ning & ren... u 2 really ah... should really work at civil defence... u set fires for the firefighters to train in realistic (?) situations

Ning - October 18, 2004 06:17 AM (GMT)
Man... we've got some degree of exposure going

Anyways, don't worry really, the flames weren't that large (we wisely & prudently didn't use the 'dragon breath powder' inside macs, so we didnt get thrown out or set off the water sprinklers)

If you can convince Morphine to do this Fire Spray act again, Ren and I were be glad to show some pyro stunts <LOL>
