Title: Magic On T.v. (again)

Aloy - June 13, 2005 01:07 PM (GMT)
Anybody saw that guy on "Huan Le Dian Feng" just now?
I saw bits of it while i was having dinner in the coffeeshop. His card manipulations seems alrite and his effects seem quite interesting, but i didn't catch his patter so i dunno what's going on :P

Is that guy Singaporean? If he is, i'm SURE he is somebody's friend in here. Maybe even one of us here. B)
So, who was on TV? :)

All I know is he's 16 years old and looks like William Hung. There's another contestant at the start of the show who did Crazy Man Handcuff. Magic is really getting alot of publicity these days ^_^

i am just really glad he didn't do 2 card monte and here and there. :!!:
That was 2 quite interesting looking routine. I couldn't hear the patter so i don't really know what's going on, but making the question mark with the card spread is very fun looking. :)

Ben - June 13, 2005 04:11 PM (GMT)
Unfortunately, before he made that question mark, the camera zoomed in to his hands while he was cutting the deck.

Nope he didn't.

The dou**e u**e* was way too obvious. And Mark Lee was not even impressed when he pointed at the dot of the question mark :P

I must say his manipulations were well executed though. Maybe you guys can give a shot and get a free handphone too?

Top Fun is becoming like a gateway for some magicians to perform... i getting a little sick of watching more andd more contestants use magic as their special skill when asked... this just spoils the exclusivity of magic and furthurmore, some people are exposing and not doing a good job...

i'm not saying that i'm more skilled than them or anything, i just dun like the idea of magic appearing on these shows too much, even though some of them did quite a good job (the CMH guy, and some others). You can see the question mark guy failing to impress Mark Lee, which kinda indicates that they are getting sick of these little tricks...

just my 2 cents worth...

haha...i watched it the nite before i left to phuket on tiger airways...small flight...only 50 odd ppl. so i went from 'table to table' or rather "seat to seat" and asked if they watched teevee last nite...haha. most ppl liked the question mark thingy actually...did his patter for a few on request. haha

yea, i've seen way too many performance by magic enthusiasts on top fun. and i think its the extreme lack of standard/presentation that causes many ppl, including myself, to be bored and think thats all it is to magic. (very sad..)

i didnt find the CMH guy good, like the question mark guy, his sleights (u guys noe what it is) lack motivation. thats where the question mark guy failed, as pointed out by markiebeth. when u know what are the moves which are suspicious because of the lack of motivation, u can easily trace the method. and layppl only need to suspect something, to conclude that they caught u. this is true, cos magic is not abt them not knowing how its done, its abt them knowing that it cant be done...
