Title: Jeremy's Performance
Description: NP Graduation Nite

LarryDK - July 16, 2005 04:47 PM (GMT)
Hi guys,

As mentioned on the thread title, Jeremy was the magician that performed for us in the Graduation Nite 2005. This is what he did:

He did a few min's mute routine, i think its the same as the 2005 Magic unlimited routine. And i can say its good man. U deserve the title.

Some pointers that i notice during this performance. My side of the audience will be ur senstive angle. Some time i can see the exposure of ur balls. And also ur Cards appearing is much exposure from our side. But its super cool, the cards are fly out in the last part and a card statue was formed. WOW!!

After that, he did a Jumbo 3 card monte routine. It was great, By far, i think it is the most visual trick in the whole routine. Cause everyone was involved and they are really guessing where is the queen of hearts.

Some things that i have notice is that you mentioned that you are giving everyone to win. I forget how u mentioned it, but the way u put it, the first thought in my mind is, all the 3 cards will be queen of hearts. Hmm, i think it have slightly lower down the impact of this magic. This is wat i think, if i am performing, i will say "i will be good to everyone here, look i have 2 kings and a queen. I shuffle the cards, so where is the queen?" Then people will shout some ans, then 1 say, i am good to everyone here, all the 3 cards are now queens." slowly showing each cards that are queen and persent all the 3 cards. But not turning over all the 3 cards at one go.

After that, he did a missing piece in monalisa magic. Its a nice magic but it is more consider as a stage close up magic. Hmm, the good thing is that, the camera is at ur advantage, it helps u to deliver the msg to the back people. But still, some of us, like me, cant see what is happening at all. I personally its a fine magic, but cant deliver a big impact to people.

After that, he did a bill magic. I like this one, but the visual is not nice enough, since the bill is so small, so it lessen the effect alot. But twists in between the bill magic are great and even me din expect it. I enjoy it and i certainly think that the final impact that the bill is inside the lemon is power.

Lastly, he mentioned a story of snow, and then proceed to do some magic to the tissues, as he actually use the tissues and make those spaking things fly out. This is what they call, simple magic hits hard. The finale of the whole routine is sweet and encouraging. Telling people ur aim of ur magic and a good closer.

In all the performances that i saw, i like the most is his magic show, even though i am a magician, i certainly enjoyed it and my frenz keep asking me is it real anot, so the impact is sent over to the audience. Well done Jeremy. I never know that u are also a NP student. Too late liao. Hehe.. Anyway, good luck on ur final year and may u fare well.

All the above is my thoughts and ideas. So it is not to critise him of his magic but my personal views towards his approach. Just my thoughts.

Larry
P.S Oh, my frenz like the silk to wand thing, haha, it visually stun people out.

Some time i can see the exposure of ur balls.

Sweet mother of pearl!

That aside, I think you did a great job from the way Larry here described it.

Good one Jeremy!

GordonLi - July 17, 2005 08:18 AM (GMT)
even at the kovan magic competition thing, the balls flashed. thats because jeremy's act is rather angle sensitive because of all the technicalities (eg. CPs), but his act is perfect on stage (eg. SAM magic night where he did GREAT and WOWED me!).

but, its a well routined award-winning act with sleek, well-rehearsed sleights! im still very impressed by it.

however, i felt that the card castle ending is rather meaningless. some other magicians have also mentioned this to me. the card fountain as an ending is great already!

LarryDK - July 17, 2005 08:41 AM (GMT)
Ya its great. The bit to bit is powerful. I agreed that the card fountion is alreadi a good effect. unless the card castle can pop up by its own.

Hey, y no one thought of the auto pop up card castle?

Anyway, i trying to get the video. (Since i know the camera crew)

If i got it, i paste the link here.

anyway, does it look like Copperfields snow?

jErMZ - July 18, 2005 05:12 AM (GMT)
nyx.,. copperfield's snowstorm is too expensive and furthermore u need a real big fan.,. which u have to plug power in.,. in any case.,. its snowstorm in china or any other brand will do the job.,.

LarryDK - July 18, 2005 07:06 AM (GMT)
Yap yap, Jeremy one is more ideal for a small stage production.

You wont want to carry a big fan around u for perfromance ya?

Sorry Jeremy its a CANE. Haha!!

Study hard.

Let me answer that for her B)

There's a gimmick call the JUMBO Snowstorm tablet.
6 tablets for $35, each can produce 45 THOUSAND flakes. Non reusable.

Never used it, but if you are exploring this then it might be worth checking out.

Or if you really want to spice it up, there's the Ultimate Snowstorm Cannon. Sends a blast of "snowflakes" into the air above you for the finale. "Only" $145, with 12 "snowstorms".

Yah, I am quite a fan of this effect too B)

nyx - July 20, 2005 10:44 AM (GMT)
that's alot of flakes for the Jumbo Snowstorm Tablet.

But the Ultimate Snowstorm cannon sounds good. jErMz, is this what you use?

Probably my next month army allowance will allow me to get that.

Thanks Aloy.
