I think the reason may be that Singaporeans aren't really that good of spectators. The reactions they give is not that strong. That's just my opinion.

yep, i second tht! i thnk i will be goin overseas and many other countries to perform , so as to gt reaction, or i can also use some stooges in the crowd to "build up" the atmosphere.

Hmmm...using stooges is like rather -_-'
Trust me so long as ur able to perform ur effects well enough, reactions will always be there. If you think they are not responsive, most probably it's because they are stumped and completely speechless by what had just taken place before them.

Never underestimate the power of stooges.

Guys, there are several acts that are being adveristed in singapore. But it is not on TV because that is not the key media favor of the audience in singapore.
How many of us go to art central now and then to watch the shows?
That is an example. There are alreadi people doing shows and people that do like david blaine, well dun ask who did it before, go out and try urself.

I formed a magic group called The Wiz Kids here in East Orange, NJ (USA). Whenever we did shows in or around East Orange, the audiences were not impressed. The Wiz Kids were just kids from their schools, or kids they knew in the street. However, when we took the Wiz Kids on tour to other states, far from East Orange, they were treated like celebrities. They went on local TV shows, got to stay at the best hotels, got to ride in limos, and the whole works.
Idea # 1 - Maybe you need to perform outside of Singapore to be recognized.
The strength of the Wiz Kids comes from the fact that they work as a TEAM. Each ones takes a turn at being the STAR of the show. We have a mentalist, an escape artist, a dove magician, a clown magician, and so on. When one Wiz Kid is in the spot light, the others act as assistants, work the lights, play the music, and so on. This is a very hard concept for some independent magicians to understand, since they have been working solo all their lives. But Chris Angel is NOT alone. He has his whole family working behind the scenes to promote HIM. David Blaine has a whole flock of people helping to promote him behind the scenes.
Idea # 2 - Form a production team to promote just ONE person to become the Singapore Star. It's hard to watch someone else take the applause, but remember that applause is not just for the person out front... it's for everyone who created the illusion of that Star Performer.

An example that follows my last post:
Jonathan Bayme, age 17, from the USA was recently on a tour in Singapore, where he performed his illusion show, got TV spots, media coverage, etc.
http://www.jbayme.com/v2/Remember idea #1?
He's not from Singapore. He's a mysterious stranger from the USA.
Remember idea #2?
Jonathan Bayme has his own crew of 15 people working with him on these projects. He is not alone.
Get the idea?

Dearest jimgerrish, thank you for writing the single most sensible post I've read in half a month. It is thanks to people like you, I can filter the crap that other people write. You are a source of motivation for all of us moderators, a person who actually contributes. Thank you.
