Hi SMC peeps...

Just to share a bit of news, local veteran magician Bob Chua (also a member of this magic forum *grin*) will be having his own magic show on 20 Aug @ 2:30pm. It's going to be at the Sembawang Community Library, Sun Plaza.

It's free so come on down if you can make it :) You can visit his website here! ^_^ I'm been really lucky to see some of his routines and you'd be amazed by how slick and original he can be with good ole classics like rope tricks and all.

Surprising that no one from the forums replied or responded to this thread. Anyway I went for the show at Sembawang library and what can I say? Bob Chua is certainly a professional at what he does best, MAGIC :)

Basically the performance on that day was for the kids. Everyone here should know that kids are like demons...erm maybe not so bad but still lots of management is required to keep them down and all. Bob handled them exceptionally well. Jokes to keep the audience (both kids and their parents) entertained were original and extremely funny.

What really amazed me then was the fact that he openly poked fun at some of the kids without fear of upsetting them. When asked why he did it, the answer was being himself. And indeed when performing, one must always be him/herself. Why try to copy how other magicians act or perform when you can adopt to your own style and not be mindful of criticisms right?

Some acts that day included Torn and Restored Newspaper, Criss-cross cards and of course Bob's famous rope routine. For those of you who have a chance in future to meet him, ask for that one particular demonstration. Frying you will be an understatement, its a complete incineration :lol:

Performing for kids is no easy task because you must know how to manage your audience and Bob Chua did just that! We've lots to learn from this veteran performer... It's incredible that he's been performing for about 20 years!

Bob, do join us for our future SMC events and meetings- I'm sure everyone else would love to see how you transform classics into your very own original routines!
