Title: Multiplying Billiard Balls
Description: recommendations?

Ben - August 15, 2005 01:46 PM (GMT)
Hi guys,

Any good sources to learn multiplying billiard balls? It's something I've been itching to learn for quite sometime.

I remembered seeing a clip from Penguin that appears balls. Wait, let me go find it..

There it is. I was like "wtf" when I saw it; I mean, the production is like so nice lor. Its not like the normal routines where you conceal 1 ball, while collecting back another one, placing "ONE" Balls, whilst its already 2 in the spectator's hand, and them opening to reveal 2.

Or wait, maybe I'm just noob. I saw Jason's performance of his routine on sponge balls at the CCF with a bunch of live audience, and.. the ending was awesome, I was kinda taken off my feet too.

Wait, this thread is suppose to be about Multiplying Billiard Balls, but anyway, it just reminds me of the Sponge Balls clip I saw at Penguin.

Yeah I saw jason did that too. But that's not multiplying billiard balls la...

The effect goes like this:
One ball becomes two, then three and four, right before your eyes. They disappear the same way. The hand is quicker than the eye.

You multiply the balls in your hands, not the audiences.
It's actually considered as a form of manipulation. Maybe I should post this at stage magic instead.

Regarding the URL you mentioned above, yes it's the one i'm refering to and you can use any kinda balls to multiply. But any good sources to learn them from?

LarryDK - August 15, 2005 03:29 PM (GMT)
Nice effect, because its out of stock. I will also get it for 3 US dollar. Haha!!

I think if u want, Jeff mcbride world class manupulation vol 1 -3 teaches ball handling.

Ning - August 16, 2005 02:31 AM (GMT)
Penguin is selling it for USD$5 lah Larry - and that's not including shipping yet :P I can help you order them and it's less than S$10 for the set... email me if you want to order, I'm submitting orders tomorrow night so the stocks will come by next week ;)

cheers,
ning

PS: Yeah, check out Buaya's slick manipulation ball moves as well. I don't know if he learnt it from McBride but those DVDs are great stuff... ^_^

Ben - August 16, 2005 07:33 AM (GMT)
The set actually comes with a gimmick right? It's always a risk to buy gimmicks and not knowing how it works. But I don't mind risking 10 bucks for a nice effect. Is there a similar effect using other type of balls? say billiard balls or tennis balls instead of sponge balls.

Regarding McBride's dvd, it covers alot of coins and other redundant stuffs. Any videos that concentrate solely on ball manipulation?

Thanks for your time

Ning - August 16, 2005 08:59 AM (GMT)
Hmmm... you don't seem to know how this works? They all use the same technique :) IMHO, Jeff McBride's DVD set is great- it teaches you so many things besides ball manipulation feats!

But since you know specifically what you're looking for, check out this DVD...Multiplying Balls by Tim Wright. Tim Wright AKA Skilldini is well known as a skilled manipulator and is the recipient of the prestigious Neil Foster/Bill Baird Award for Manipulation.

You can see the entire range of DVDs available here if you're interested in other titles.

These funky sponge balls look cute. I think I'll order a set for myself tomorrow evening after meeting up with people for their orders... ^_^ Cheap!!!

LarryDK - August 16, 2005 11:10 AM (GMT)
Correct loh. for 10 bucks. U can buy and play around with it. U never knows. Maybe u can adapt the idea into another routine. Thats y i getting it. :)

GordonLi - August 16, 2005 12:59 PM (GMT)
i advise against multiplying sponge balls. i think one should get at least a vernet.

Ben - August 16, 2005 02:50 PM (GMT)
Hey ning, to be honest i really don't know how this thing works. If not i won't be posting a noob question here. LOL

And gordie, i'm thinking of getting a vernet, but it sure cost alot more than sponge balls.;)

LarryDK - August 16, 2005 06:00 PM (GMT)
gordon, i got those ma. u forgotten? juz that this is a good way to learn more handling.

for those tat want to try it out first. multipling sponge balls is a gd start. and if u like them. then can get better good balls. balls that bounce is great.

GordonLi - August 17, 2005 08:41 AM (GMT)
u have what? larry? i really dun rmb...

btw, i feel multiplying sponge balls are so bad it isnt really worth the money. i really doubt any1 will want to perform that. anyway, i dont think multiplying balls should be done closeup. but if u intend to get it, at least a vernet which is more value for money.

JasonL - August 19, 2005 05:48 PM (GMT)
Is there a confusion here between multiplying sponge balls and multiplying billiard balls? They are two very different things.

I feel that if you want to go into billiard balls, just go straight for the best, Fakini. They are considered to be the Rolls Royce of the multiplying billiard balls. Expensive but they work like a dream. I have both Fakini and the Vernet set. I prefer Fakini so much more to Vernet. THe vernet balls are very light and difficult to handle. The spiky grips get in the way of some moves too.

As for sponge balls, I have a routine for it too, as Ben and djtk mentioned. It is usually my opener for a close up routine.

PM me if you need help in either one of them.

Oh..and forget about the Tim Wright video. It is not worth the time. Go for Mcbride's instead if you are more interested in the handling and techniques rather than the history and the types of billiard balls.

...Fakini...

:off:
Sounds kinda crude har. Hahhaha :!!:

GordonLi - August 20, 2005 02:04 AM (GMT)
no jason, multiplying sponge balls and multiplying billiard balls utilise the same concept. thats why multiplyint sponge balls arent very good.

goshman produces and markets sponge balls and multiplying sponge balls. the one we are familiar with is sponge balls.

and yes, think abt it, if u want to get a multiplying balls set, might as well get fakini. although its ex, the quality is great and it will probably last a life time .

LarryDK - September 3, 2005 05:02 PM (GMT)
This one, lets agree to gordie.

I got the sponge ball set and a knit ball set.

The sponge ball is good for beginner, but it doesnt help alot for ur future ball routines, cause it is soft and the tool is not as good as the fakini one.

So if u want, get a fakini and practise, ya it is hard, but once u get it, its fun to play with.

Sehnsucht - September 4, 2005 10:31 AM (GMT)
how ex is ex?!

Ning - September 5, 2005 01:19 PM (GMT)
Ask Jason :) He's got the pro Fakini set... sweet!!!

LarryDK - September 5, 2005 03:26 PM (GMT)
i checked the price up alreadi. For a 1 3/4 inch Fakini ball, it cost abt 75 US and for a 2 inch, it cost 135 US.

Haha!! it is super exp for a beginner. And this ball cant be purchased locally.

I have no idea how Jason got his. maybe during his travel?

But he is the man that can help.
