Title: Favourite Close-up Trick...
Description: What's yours?
Aloy - September 9, 2004 06:08 PM (GMT)
For impromptu one, my fav has to be Crazy Man's handcuffs. It easy to find 2 rubberbands and when performed correctly, it's very very visual...
For gimmicked, my fav is Floating Bill/Tissue. It is surprisingly unknown in SG especially. The eyes just all goes so wide....
What's everyone's preference?
Cheers

impromtu? SPOON BENDING!!! haha
if no spoons available some coins lor... it's the only thing available everywhere, maybe not in the swimming pool though..
favour one should be down's palm coins production, n the coin that falls upward.
there's one i like a lot but only showed my gf before, sugar pack to bill. good at dinner/lunch.
anyone's gonna vote for the detachable thumb? :P
gimmicked? the real floating card from expertmagic.
Aloy - September 11, 2004 07:44 AM (GMT)
Dun look down at the detachable thumb....kids less than 5 yrs old love that more than any other trick you can show them
No kidding, I've shown my friend's son like 10 tricks in a row, including the detachable thumb and 2 weeks later when he sees me, the only trick he remembers is the detachable thumbs and he really wanna see it again
I just did a show today for a combination crowd of 2 extremes, kids under 12 and senior citizens (it's a combined charity event). It is so interesting how people of different age bracket reacts so differently to different tricks and how different tricks sticks. I think it has to do with fantasy fulfilment. Will post some thoughts about that later.
First....need.......sleep...............

for fingers' stuff maybe u'll like to check up Meir Yedid's Finger Fantasies.
it's quite interesting, especially when u realized that he really only has 4 fingers on his right hand..

I'd do a svengali ;-) floor them everytime... i'm not a card person (girls just dont have the palms guys have- so that's one downer) but that makes me look like a pro everytime (or so i've been told by the gasping/ wheezing/ shocked/ incredulous spectators)... hahaha...

Greg Wilson's Recap Revisited. ;) I used to perform it a lot last time (before I became more *obsessed* with cards), and it's a fun and entertaining routine for everyone, for you to perform and for the audience that watches it. It doesn't even matter much if you mess it up a bit because of the way the routine is structured. :D

Haunted key never fails!
I always have a deck of cards with me.
If not, my favourate CU pkt trick will be bicycle built for 5 by ton onasaka!

Try and use bridge size cards and you might find them handy.
cyngapore - September 22, 2004 04:41 PM (GMT)
For me i like doc daley's last trick and an ambitious card with my personal touch
lol

For me I have to keep it simple... coz not much time to practise... in a group, at a table it'd have to be the "Coin thru table" the one with the salt-shaker, performed it once @ HMV marche in front of close frens, they were all stunned into silence for a few secs after they heard the salt-shaker hit the floor (lucky nvr break!) could almost hear the cogs in their heads turning extra quick to process the situation...
for smaller gps, I like the folding coin (yes I have a S'pore $1!) and the Hermann face change. (but frm experience the latter is limited to 1 person at a time only =( )
Chris.

Forgot to add... TT stuff are great too... esp the bill switch routine i do coz the bill nvr leaves their sight. Too bad not much time to practise that nowadays... i have to kick aside the pile of tutorials to enter my room! Would like to try the re-sealed candy packet one day too... (also done with TT)
Chris.

Close up I love to do floating Bill.. my friends the eyes was so wide open when I perform in camp for them lol. I do spoon bending too... lol did this to my group of classmate in sch canteen and even the catenn aunty was stun and froze there by just watching it lol
Ning - September 28, 2004 01:48 AM (GMT)
Same thing- love floating THEIR borrowed $ note in front of them... gets them everytime. And spoon/fork bending is GREAT to get them to pop their eyeballs out over lunch... hahaha.
One thing I like about magic, it's an excellent icebreaker and besides that, you improve people's moods dramatically. You make them feel more alive.

For me if I am in coffeeshop, I do matrix using beer cap, coin thru' table, torn and restore ciggarettes paper/tissue, bill tearing, crazy cube, pen penetration thru dollar and card tricks.

i gotta agree with morphine on crazyman handscuff being so visual and awesome. it is impromtu, no set up required.. just need too rubberbands which u can get or ask for anywhere. but must be nice bands to have nice effects... i cant remember wat size already.. hehe
rubberbands are kinda good... must learn more rubberband tricks.. dan harlan vids are good.

My favourate close up tricks are:
a) Linking paper clips using bills
B) Stealth pen
c) CMH
d) Pinnacle
However, a) seems to have weaker impact generally.....

Hmmm I love doing a muscle pass. After the muscle pass, I vanish the coin using a raven. Its freaking sweet!
R_jayz - May 28, 2005 08:42 AM (GMT)
i didn't reallt like CMH in the past...but now that i've mastered it(sort of...), it has become my fav close up trick... visually pleasing for yourself when you see them taking the two bands and try to twist here and there for the whole day...
i like spongeball effects too.... i usually keep two or three in my wallet...
